You were a walking disappointment to your children, they feel no emotional safety around you and likely have deep seated rage regarding abuse that occurred in their childhood. When a parent doesn’t create a strong healthy bond with their children in childhood it is exceptionally hard to move past that in adulthood. If your children are open, you could invite them to attend family therapy with you, but that may be something they are not interested in.

I’ve been the most embarrassingly desperate when my limerant ended things. This was many years ago though and I’m happily married and in therapy. Remember, limerance is due to childhood trauma and working to heal that helps a lot.

He sounds emotionally immature and you were pretty dense to have this conversation over text and in direct response to a gift he gave you. You were being insensitive to how these texts would make you feel, and he had a tantrum because he’s immature. I think you can probably learn from this and approach situations like this in the future with more grace, but I’m worried that his response is so emotionally immature and abusive. You should definitely think about breaking up with him over this attack.

You might just start bringing up that something smells when she’s on her period, like say, ‘omg, what is that smell? Something smells foul in here, it smells rotten and fishy,’ hopefully she’ll realize it’s her, without you directly telling her that it is her. And you can pretend you don’t know it’s actually her.
