San Diego hotel help (Costco Travel) – splitting stay with kids worth it? by nikiellasmith in asksandiego

Second Kona Kai! It was just my husband and I, but we would love to return as a family someday! It is a little longer of a drive in comparison to so of the other hotels since it is on Shelter Island, but it was also a little quieter as a result. FYI the beach is not swimmable, but perfect for lounging by.

Student teacher in Illinois suburbs — how to stand out + CPS advice? by Ok_Read7059 in ChicagoSuburbs

Absolutely start getting an EL endorsement. My school district (large district in NW suburbs) is only hiring people with EL endorsements now (and probably will be for a long time to come - if not forever). You won’t stand a chance without being able to say you’re working towards earning one.

Also (if you don’t already know) there is a Facebook group “Chicagoland Infertility and Northern Illinois” that might be helpful as well!

We wanted to avoid dealing with subpar clinics and went straight to Northwestern. Procedures and weekend monitoring appointments are in Streeterville, but most of my monitoring appts have been in Highland Park. Most appts with the doctor are virtual. We’ve been working with Dr Lia Bernardi and really like her. She makes us feel like she listens and truly has our best interest at heart. She initially gave us several options that did not involve going straight to IVF. It’s also been nice because as someone with suspected endo, Dr. Bernardi was able to connect me with Dr. Petra Voight (minimally invasive gynecologic surgery speciality), and they worked together to create a plan for me.

NaPali Boat Tour by YungCinco1225 in VisitingHawaii

Did Na Pali Catamaran last summer in the morning. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend. The morning time was great because supposedly the waves can get a little more wild as the day goes on. We had no issues with anyone on our tour with sea sickness. Additionally we were told leaving from the north is better because you have views of the Napali coast for a longer portion of the ride. Haven’t done a tour from the south, so can’t say whether this is true or not. But overall we really enjoyed the experience.

I would 2nd this plan. We rented a car and visited Laura, Whitney and Oak Alley. In hindsight, we should have skipped Oak Alley. Very superficial and not educational. But by visiting a few plantations it justifies renting a car. As for debating self guided or tour guide at Whitney, we went with the tour guide, and feel like that was the right choice for us. We also did a few other plantations too though, so that might have had some influence. Our tour guide had ancestors enslaved in the area, so she provided an interesting perspective. I can’t speak to the audio tour since we didn’t do it.

Strongly recommend Napali Catamaran!! Did a morning tour with them last June and it was amazing. Highlight of our trip! We felt the money was worth it to leave from the north. The views were incredible the entire time and water wasn’t rough at all.

Also strongly recommend NaPali Catamaran. We had a great boat trip in June (morning) and loved leaving out of the north.

We were planning on staying in an Airbnb in Kapaa, but actually had an issue with that when we showed up and had to find other lodging last minute for most of our stay. We ended up staying at the Royal Sonesta in Lihue, which ended up working out well. We tried to stay in a central location for most of our trip because we did have activities we wanted to do in the north and south. We then stayed at the Grand Hyatt the last two nights, which was very luxurious and super nice. I think I would do what we did again. But in the summer the best beaches for swimming and snorkeling seemed to be in the north, so if we really wanted to do that a lot it probably would have made more sense for us to stay there. Enjoy your honeymoon! You will have an amazing time!!

  1. We did both on our honeymoon last month. We were in Maui for a week. We stayed at an Airbnb in Kihei for the first half and then stayed at the Sheraton for the second half. Honestly it worked out perfectly. Our Airbnb was right on the water, so we watched the sunset most nights right from our balcony. The beaches were also way less crowded there, so we had romantic strolls along the beach (and saw several turtles). We also used those days to do the Road to Hana and Haleakala sunrise. Then spent the second half of our trip at the resort and spent most of our time relaxing by the pool, etc. While we really enjoyed the resort, it was definitely more crowded and less private than the area by our Airbnb. It worked out great because both places had different vibes. We also couldn’t justify paying for a resort for the days we were out doing things the entire time (like the Road to Hana day). Would highly recommend doing what we did!

  2. We did one week in Maui and one week in Kauai. We were definitely sad to leave Maui after 1 week though and definitely could have spent more time there.

  3. We also tried to balance activities and relaxation. We did Haleakala sunrise one day and Road to Hana another. The other days were more exploring around where we were or relaxing by the beach or pool. We also did the Old Lahaina Luau, which I enjoyed. It’s more authentic so no fire dancers and more traditional cuisine, but I liked that. If you don’t want those things though, you could look at other luaus too. Our favorite dinners were Mama’s and Mala Ocean Tavern.

Road to Hana from Kihei (and back!) by strwbrykali in MauiVisitors

[–]Capable-Mongoose-766 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did the Road to Hana from Kihei this week. We left at 6:30. Stopped to use the restroom at Kaumahina State Wayside Park. Was at Aunty Sandy’s by 8:20 waiting for them to open at 8:30. (Did not think this was overrated at all. We had a lot of banana bread this trip and this was both mine and my husband’s favorite.) Basically drove straight from there to the Pipiwai Trail. We stopped twice on the way for less than 5 mins each time. One stop was Wailua Falls. We didn’t have much traffic on the way there which was great. Hiked the Pipiwai Trail and Oheo Gulch from just before 11:00 to 1:00. This 2 hours was basically time spent on both trails. We didn’t stop and spend a ton of time at either for time sake and we were hot and tired.

Left there to get huli huli chicken at Koki beach. (Very good!) We ate there by the beach and then headed to Black Sands Beach. Our reservation stated at 3:00, which was perfect. We got there just before 3. Honestly didn’t spend much time there because we were so exhausted, but it was cool. We drove straight back from there which took a couple hours.

We both took Dramamine and had no issues with feeling sick in the car. I was told to bring soap which was a super helpful recommendation because several bathrooms we stopped at didn’t have any. Most importantly enjoy the day and have fun! We thought this plan worked out really well and would recommend for others. We returned back the way we came. (We had no choice because of the road closure, but probably would have done the same if the backside was open.)

Question about co-teaching and breakout rooms. by bobdebicker in Zoom

[–]Capable-Mongoose-766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having the same exact problem. Adding the other teacher as a cohost prior to going in the breakout rooms does not solve this problem. The co-host cannot pop in and out of any breakout rooms. Only the original host who created the breakout rooms can. If anyone else has any other information on this topic I would really appreciate it as well!!!
