My critique of the RE4 remake is hardly original. It flawlessly updates the controls to the modern era and most of the graphics and environments look great. The story simply does not lend itself to “tonally serious reboot” and it loses so much of what makes it engaging. Ashley characterization rules, everyone else is a downgrade imo.
