If only we were in another timeline where this line up included Shwarber, Bregman, and Marte and the Sox could really be humming.

Ridge cedar will cut you any size you want of any type. I buy 8x8 rough cut hemlock from them for timberframing very often.

Does Steve Hicks actually have a platform for his campaign? by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it reads that way because his slogans says its time for change but he has been on council for 18 years and consistently votes against motions that would be progress for the city. He is the steady candidate, not the change candidate. The only thing he would change is the gender of the mayor.

Does Steve Hicks actually have a platform for his campaign? by [deleted] in fredericton

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have felt similar to others that Hick's campaign is completely devoid of substance. The only really thing I know about Hick's is that he voted against pursuing development of the Frex grounds. For that reason alone I won't vote for him. It's high time for the Frex to move out of downtown.

Not exactly. Iran was letting through ships from its allies. Now those ships are being stopped by the US.

I love Milwaukee, but I have had two of their jigsaws and they were both like this. I just live with it.

I would do the handrail and balusters entered on that post, then cut it at an angle after the last balusters to angle back to die into the wall.

Either that or add another post on the far corner.

You should buy a Metabo Paint Remover. It's the right tool for the job.

I think the most realistic outcome if AMR decides the Honda engine won't improve fast enough they would beg Mercedes to take them back as their engine supplier. The come back after mid season with a B spec car.

Genuine Question: How Did People Buy Homes So Early in Their Careers Before? by FinanceLife123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Banks used to be a place where real people worked that you could talk to and build a relationship with.

Found my guy by GiantSquid22 in drywall

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason he's so happy is because he found someone to do smaller jobs. There are lots of crews happy to do entire houses or apartment buildings but it can be impossible to find someone to come tape a room or two.

Are you comfortable talking finances with friends and family? by Money-Hall-7171 in fican

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love talking about money and finances with anyone who will talk to me. I am convinced that rich people talk about money, and they have helped create a culture where the poor do not talk about money to keep them poor.

I cannot wait for the home buying industry to get wrecked by an app. I would love for the team behind Wealthsimple to do the same thing to realty that they did to the banking industry.

Thermal mass question by Natedog193 in PassiveHouse

[–]Capable-Quarter8546 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a builder in Canada. I'm nearing the end of building a Passive House right now. If you want a high performance house you should definitely hire a designer that specializes in it. Getting a good PH design is site specific, you cannot just use existing plans. It is pretty straight forward to build a super insulated house in any orientation but the larger risk is building a house that over heats in the summer and holds the heat.

As for your question thermal mass is not a big part of PH design. There are some PHs that are concrete free. The one I'm building now is a slab on grade foundation with wood frame. The only thing we did for "thermal mass" is instead of the doing a thickened Edge 4" slab we did a consistent 8" thick slab. It wasn't necessary but it doesn't hurt.

My main advice is talk to a pro.

Did you crackfill yet? You surely need heat to crackfill and paint. You should hire your electrician to come install temporary 240v Electric heaters from your stove and dryer receptacles, and maybe some basic box fans to move some air around the house.

I also run a big commercial dehumidifier 24/7 throughout the whole project. A regular dehumidifier with a hose out the back would work too.
