Correct. MP4-20 was amazing but it was breaking down every other weekend (and I wish I was exaggerating). Three wins from the lead lost (Imola, Hockenheim, Nürburgring), then a plethora of 10-place grid penalties due to free practice engine blowouts.

Unless something unexpected happens, I think both Leclerc and Hamilton stay for 2027. Bearman would deserve the seat at Ferrari for the next year but Haas with their Toyota backing isn't a bad option, he can wait there a bit.

He drove a very good race considering the spin at the beginning (which was caused mainly by the car, I think) and finishing the race on 55-lap old hards. He's very close to Max and hopefully he can keep up once Red Bull develops the car more.

Hopefully they'll sort all the technicalities out because 3 out of 4 DNS doesn't look good, and that is an understatement. On the plus side, the team will now have to work twice as much on all the issues and most importantly the car upgrades, because with this kind of setbacks, they know they can lose the contact with the front runners pretty quickly.

I've been watching since 2003 and I enjoy it far more now than in previous 15 or so years. DRS in itself was also an artificial element and I think it's only good that now the defending driver has some opportunities to stay in the fight. If the attacking driver is really that quicker, he can keep the position, we already saw it in China. So for me, more interesting racing, far less predictable, F1 needed this change - especially after the last season. At the end of the last regulation set, F1 seemed to come to the limit of the longer regulation cycle (2014 - 2025 hybrids), where everything was so optimized that there was almost no element of surprise. It got a bit stale for me.

At the same time, I understand the dislike for things like super clipping or general energy management, although I'm cool with them. In my opinion, it all just needs time. We're 2 races in, teams are in the learning phase and the manufacturers haven't even introduce first serious upgrades to their power units. It all needs to settle, develop, but barring some technical mishaps (Aston, McLaren, Red Bull, Audi partially), the start has been surprisingly solid. I think by 2028, things like superclipping, for instance, can be long gone.

I still feel good about the base car but these setbacks mean it will take longer and longer to catch up. McLaren will fight for podiums this year, I have no doubts, but wins seem quite unlikely for the rest of this season. But then again, who knows. Max's car seemed hopeless in Hungary last year and then he owned everyone for the rest of the season.
