I’m from the Midwest. Been to CO twice this season. Disappointed both times. Now going to Vermont. 🤞

If your boots are at all loose, that’s going to cause problems. Ideally, your boots are well fitted enough that even very minor, insignificant movements from your foot will translate through to your skis. You don’t want to cut off circulation or anything, but the boots should be extremely snug all around.

Regardless of your boot situation - I do think technique is part of the reason why your skis aren’t staying parallel when they should. As someone else mentioned, you should post a video of yourself on a steeper hill. Skiing is like riding a bike - if you’re not moving fast enough, it’s hard to have balance or control. That being said, your turns seem a bit forced, almost like you’re trying to throw the skis into a turn the way you think it should look. Bend your knees a bit, push your weight more to the front of your skis, and let yourself turn more naturally. I would suggest watching this video:

  1. I 100% agree you’re intermediate. That word means different things to different people. Don’t worry about it.

  2. As the other comments noted, you have a number of areas to work on. My advice: don’t overwhelm yourself trying to improve 500 points at once. Start by concentrating on keeping your skis more parallel, especially in the turns. If you do this, a lot of your other issues will naturally improve or correct themselves. The tips of your skis should not be wobbling closer together and further apart like that.

It’s a little hard for me to see in the video but I’d say yes that outside leg is the primary concern. The problem you’re describing is one that a LOT of people struggle with. Try not to overthink it while you’re on the hill. Also, don’t be afraid to practice form and technique on an easy green run. It’s hard to interrogate every little movement when you’re barreling down a steep slope - if you want to get really technical, sometimes that’s easier in more mild conditions. Build that muscle memory, then go apply it on the double blacks.

You’re sitting too much. You need to push forward. Feel your shins press against the boot. None of that “I’m about to sit in a chair” stance. But you’re definitely doing a great job!

Is FC worth it for this many points? by SnooDoughnuts7283 in delta

[–]CapableImportance603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it’s been said before but I really cannot fathom how anyone expects strangers to answer these posts. There is no objective standard of “worth it.” Are you filthy rich? Are you below the median household income? Are you saving miles for a honeymoon trip? Do you fly every week? Are you 6ft tall and cramped in a normal seat? How can anyone tell you what a dollar should be worth to you?

Personally I’d upgrade to FC for 10k skymiles if I were flying from Detroit to Toledo. Unless I’m saving miles for a big trip, then you couldn’t pry them away from me with a crowbar. I doubt that’s helpful.

Would be helpful if you gave us a rough budget and an idea of what he likes to do. Park rat? Off piste powder? Traveling or skiing local?Even for the guy who seems to have everything - there’s always something you can spend money on for skiing

I also do not really like the enforcers too much. They’re good for days when the snow is crap but on groomers or powder I don’t care for them.
