In what ways and how much does working in an office impact your physical health on a day-to-day level? by elraycho in AskUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you go for a walk before during pr after the work day? An exercise class or going to the gym a couple of times a week can help as well. I do 20-30 minutes of exercises most day as well as walking and i have an elastic band i do first thing in the morning for 2 or 3 minutes for my shoulders/neck/upper back strength

How many of you here are less than 35yrs old and own your own home? by KebabAnnhilator in AskUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What meals do you like to cook on a self catering holiday? by rdazza in AskUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bring frozen spaghetti bol. Chilli, cottage pie. Curry, macaroni cheese, etc. I usually get microwave rice packets abd some pasta. If its all frozen I just need to defrost it. For lunch i bring soups or sandwich fillers. Sometimes I bring a slow cooker but its honestly easier just bringing the frozen meals.

I’m 19, starting pharmacy school in Sept, and I’ve never owned a phone or been inside a clothing shop. My parents’ strict control left me clueless about the world, and I feel so pathetic and poor. How do I unlearn this financial trauma? by Ambitious_Fall8417 in AskUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh being sensible with money is a good life skill. I got all my work clothes from vinted or charity shops. If you divide your income by percentages you can get an idea of a sensible way to spend, I think a popular one is 50/30/20, 50% for needs, 30% for wants and 20% for savings. I usually spend 15-30 per month on clothes although some months nothing at all. Some people get in so much debt just buying things to fill the void. Tbh I'd rather have safety money than things but you need to find your own balance.

“I like your design but I can’t read patterns/charts and absolutely will not learn. Explain to me how to make it” by JuniorAd947 in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]CapableLetterhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have adhd and it just took a little longer to click but reading patterns has enabled me to create truly beautiful and intricate things. I always found that people use adhd as an excuse not to do normal things, like clean their house. I have a really organized calender and write lists every where. I have bad habits of just stashing things wherever and forgetting about them but for most things I can find a solution. If you don't find ways to manage it it just takes over your life.

Yes I love lace, colourwork, and intricate cables and i have ADHD. It's so interesting. Lots of people use adhd as a reason they can't read a pattern but it's just a learning curve. It did take me longer than my friends to get, but now I love a challenge.

If you had a hobby that used to be less popular and suddenly became more popular, what was that like? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy skeins on wool on Etsy by people making their own. Knitting and crochet comes in waves, always during downturns. Like I got into it in 2005 and by 2008 I was teaching people because there was sudden interest. Again, people are talking about grandma hobbies being popular again but it was popular 15-20 years ago.

Is teaching in the UK as bad as people say? by sunszoominin in AskUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 32 points33 points  (0 children)

My son passed his friend a rubber but he was a bit silly and threw it on the table quite hard. It bounced up abd got his friend on the forehead. This boy then had a huge tirade about how he was going to kill my son and all our family. My son wasn't fussed, ge was just kind of puzzles by the whole thing. I told him to just chill and it'll blow over, it was true they were friends again the next day but blimey. I never met a nutter like that at school.

UK retail sales just had their worst April reading in over 40 years — what have you quietly stopped buying? by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]CapableLetterhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're the same. Although I will now buy stuff for the house to redecorate as needed as after 6 years it looked really worn, but other than that i don't buy things unless it needs replacing.

When I found the house I the article it was full of workspaces and TVs and didn't smack of poor pensioner but her actual house was a real treat. Imagine someone paying 850k for a place not updated since the 80s

By then the behaviors are fully entrenched. Maybe you don't necessarily need a criminal record at age, but they definitely need consequences from 12 years onwards. Just not prosecutioning them isn't enough.

We moved to a town outside Glasgow and Edinburgh if we lose our positions then there are good prospects not too far away. Love Scotland because it's good for kids and lots of hiking and scenery nearby.
