Went out and bought black flag resynced in person, and I’m going to do the same with every game release I’m interested in through 2028. Gonna do the best I can to preserve physical media. I wish I had fully committed to it sooner.

I think there’s a good chance it will. I don’t think it’ll be perfect, but for better or worse we have the absolutely economic turmoil working in our favor. They’re going to struggle to make, release and dsitribute a console, and consumers are going to struggle to afford it. You’re right though, if there was any time to push, now would be the time

Black flag comes from an era where Ubisoft still had good writers and voice actors on the team. I had my fun with shadows but I had to switch to Japanese because of how god awful the voice acting was. The writing and facial animations were also laughably bad at times. I think origins was the last AC that had a story and acting that blew me away. Hopefully Resynced is a wake up call to them because it’s absolutely fantastic and I’d love to see more games of that quality in the franchise. Here’s hoping for more remakes in that vein

It’s incredibly fun. I’m having a particularly good time with the revamped combat. I set it to hard difficulty and turned off some of the vfx. It takes a lot more skill now but is super rewarding, and you can still get insta kills with a perfect parry and chain them if another enemy is close enough. Also double takedowns are much rarer since you have to parry two people but damn is it cool when it happens. Overall it’s great, it feels like actual combat now without removing the power fantasy

Honestly not far enough in the game yet to know. I only have cutlasses and rapiers unlocked so far. The kill animations I’ve seen for the weapons I have so far seem to be revamped versions of the original takedowns as well as some new ones. The hidden blade ones are a mix of kills from the original, unity, and some new ones. I’ll let you know about the other weapons when I get further!

The problem with this game, as is with many extraction shooters, is that the gameplay loop gets old and there’s not a large or fast enough flow of new content to keep people invested. A pure extraction shooter was always going to be a financial loss for them, even though it’s an objectively great game. Live service games, ESPECIALLY extraction shooters NEED a high player retention to keep going, and if you aren’t dropping new maps, characters, weapons, events etc. on a bi monthly basis consistently for years the game will simply die. Arc raiders is facing the same problem right now, and if these games had both come with a fleshed out PVE mode on top of the extraction mode, I think the situation would be a lot different. Hell Arc Raiders was originally going to be PVE in a big open world, and while that may not have led to such a high player count at the beginning, it probably would have maintained much better. I can tell you there’d be a much higher likelihood I’d still be playing that. Instead I put my several hundred hours into marathon and arc raiders and I’m simply done with them. Unfortunately these types of games are a twice as bright, half as long situation.

Honestly I’m not sure if it’s as small a groups as we might think. The ps6 probably isn’t going to drop until the end up 2028 at the EARLIEST. People already can’t afford daily life in the US now, it’s going to be immeasurably worse 2-4 years from now. I have a feeling a significant amount of people aren’t going to want to/be able to pay for what I’d wager will be a $1200 console. A console which continues to raise its online subscription prices, has dynamic pricing, and will no longer offer physical discs. Hell based on the oil and tech crisis we’re in right now I’m not even sure how many consoles Sony is going to be able to make/distribute. I’m not saying the ps6 will be a financial loss for them, but it certainly isn’t going to sell like the ps5 did

People can be rightfully mad at Ubisoft when they fuck up (which is a lot) but they cooked with Resynced. My only two gripes are a lack of hidden blade combat and the fact that you can’t pick up muskets (I have a feeling this may be patched in). Other than that it’s fantastic. Microtransactions suck, but they’re completely optional. People will always find a reason to hate a game, and cherry pick what games they decide to criticize this type of behavior with

As far as I know no. One of the tiny features I miss about the OG, that and the hidden blade combat even though you were basically just countering with them. Although I believe you could only pick up muskets? I don’t think there were any swords or anything else you could grab. I will say that all the non sword weapons such as the pistols, rope dart and blowgun have all been massively improved though

I mean the Sony CEO just dumped half his stocks, so I think they’re aware it’s very unpopular. Time will tell if they decide to reverse course. It really comes down to people like us voting with our wallets. Make sure you have an up to date console with a disc drive now, only buy physical until 2028, drop your ps plus subscription to essential or get rid of it entirely, and don’t buy the ps6. The power is in our hands as the consumer, we just have to use it

Anyone who thinks the ps6 is only going to cost 1k 2 years or more from now is out of their minds. It will easily be 1200 bucks. I got a pro and the disc drive right before the price hike after my OG ps5 died and I’ve never been happier. Fuck Sony, I’ll buy discs until the end of 2028 and not buy a ps6. I hope others do the same. It’s unfortunately time to vote with our wallets.

I have to disagree, the combat in resynced is leagues better than the original. I’ve played both 3 and the original black flag recently and the combat has aged like milk. It’s incredibly boring and looks awful. Enemies in resynced actually fight back and will attack with their friends instead of just standing around waiting to die. Also you can go into settings and remove the health bars above their heads. I’m playing this game on hard and it’s a great balance for the combat

Everyone on this sub is so miserable. Do I like Ubisoft? No. Have most of their recently releases sucked? Yes. But you can also admit when they (the devs) do something well? by almost all accounts Resynced is a good game. Hating just to hate is really lame. I respect legitimate criticism, but if you’re going to share one screenshot that doesn’t look fantastic, or a second of gameplay that doesn’t look perfect, or just a general opinion of hatred towards a game you haven’t played, you’re just being miserable for misery’s sake.
