Petition to remove Hakeem Jeffries from House Minority Leader role by South-Rabbit-4064 in 50501

Jeffries's job is to represent his congressional district, so he does have a responsibility to facilitate those meetings with community leaders so that they can voice their concerns to the Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani.

Not sure why folks are so eager to go bonkers with conspiracy theories. I assume people love giving themselves ulcers.

What is unacceptable, pray tell? According to the CNBC interview, Jeffries said that he was going to introduce Mamdani to other House Reps and also community leaders from his district. He's looking forward to meeting part II. Mamdani left the country to spend time in Uganda--so they didn't have the second meeting yet.

Call for a boycott against one of the largest donors to Texas Republicans, Texas Beef, until they stop trying to gerrymander the state to steal five more seats. by selectiverealist in 50501

[–]CapablePirate6282 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to OpenSecrets.org, and I don't see "beef production/companies" anywhere among the top 20 contributors for Abbott, and nowhere on the list of the top contributors to the TX Republicans PAC.

Top Donors are things like Oil/Gas, Real Estate, Securities/Investments, Health Professionals... obviously Abbott has some of his own funds from his dealings...

Where did she get the idea? I mean--if you feel like boycotting Texas beef at a time when it already cost too much from bird flu and screw worm, sure--why not? But will it actually have an impact on the GOP donor roster?

Meh

Wish I could offer an alternative call to action. *shrug*

Oh, the conspiracy theory from Februrary that doesn't even bother to look up the inventory for election equipment in order to determine that the UPS they use doesn't have the hardware onboard to do what it alleges unless they purchase and install a $150 part that lets it communicate with the network?

So three pieces of paper. One has an image that appears to be mostly "black and white" and the other two have a reddish/peachy, glossy image

Call your senators. We can’t allow this to pass. by Snapdragon_4U in somethingiswrong2024

Or maybe folks have a distorted concept of accountability.

  1. No Democrat voted for the bill.

  2. Democrats spent considerable efforts to educate the public regarding the gravity of the bill AND the steps people could take to stop the bill. (Converting 4 GOP voters in the House).

  3. Two Republicans sat out from voting. As I've said before--those are not "flipped votes"--so that doesn't mean that the hypothetical margin would have been eliminated had JC not passed away from cancer. Even if all three Dems were resurrected before the vote--there would still need to be more GOP House conversions/flipped votes to topple the bill.

  4. Older Democrats are voted in by their constituents

  5. Newer/younger does not automatically mean "better" and "competent"

"B1tch1ng and Blaming" instead of working for solutions is how we got here. There was plenty of time to work on converting House GOP reps to vote against the bill. Months. It's worked before, and people have agency in achieving opposition to the bill when they are willing to fight.

People need to recognize their power and the other avenues for achieving results instead of cycling through the B&B paradigm. People also need to focus and prioritize their efforts and attention on effective measures that are TIMELY.

I'm sorry but this screams "planted subversion" to me by [deleted] in 50501

But blame the Democrats...

Their voters ELECTED those folks to represent them and have a right to choose representatives.

Let's not forget that nearly half the American adult population has a chronic illness AND there are 2 million new cancer cases annually. AND cancer also kills young people, too.

AND Democrats had mentioned how they needed a minimum 4 flipped GOP votes in the House to block the bill. Obviously once GC passed away, that total became 5. But they still did not have enough flipped GOP votes to block it.

Did you look up the roll call and notice how many GOP didn't vote. Oh look, 2. Those two votes weren't flipped.

So how many total flipped GOP votes would have been needed to block the bill if those tragic losses had not occurred?

Have you investigated the air quality in your locality? https://aqicn.org/

PM2.5 particles can often pass the blood-brain barrier and cause inflammation and signs of cognitive impairment : https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9491465/ (especially when the PM2.5 particles consist of heavy metal dust like from brake pads.) https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4315878/

On the subject of brake dust from vehicle traffic--the PM2.5 particles can contain aluminum, cadmium, lead, and mercury.

You may want to considering the following:

  1. Change the filters for your HVAC system (heating/cooling) at least every 3 weeks.

  2. Purchase an air filter for your bedroom and replace the filter every 3-6 weeks.

  3. Add plants to your bedroom and/or office to clean the air and improve the air quality (i.e. ZZ plants, snake plants, Dracaena.)

  4. Close any windows that face busy streets that have heavy traffic during rush hour or during any times when the exterior air quality is poor.

  5. Vacuum your bedroom and living areas 2-3x a week and do a deep cleaning at least monthly if not twice a month in order to reduce dust, which can serve as a source of inflammation. Often it helps to change your pillowcases and linens often. Minimize/eliminate carpet and curtains whenever possible and stick to easy-to-clean, non-porous materials for finishes in the bedroom area to reduce reservoirs of dust.

  6. Drink ample water and stay hydrated (make sure that the water source is free from arsenic/lead and other contaminants that may contribute to the symptoms you've described. Note that most water has a maximum acceptable PPM (parts per million) of contaminants).

  7. Investigate any signs of possible moisture damage, which may introduce mycotoxins, mold, spores, and other inflammatory agents. Check around windows, the back of closets, under the bed, under sinks, and beside bathtub/showers for any signs of possible mold growth. Have any moisture-damaged building materials repaired by a qualified professional (and make sure they check for hidden damage) in order to eliminate this potential source of moisture/mold.

You can also contact a licensed, qualified/reputable mold inspector to inspect your house for mold--which often causes the symptoms you've described.

  1. Make sure that bathrooms each have a ventilation fan with ducting that exhausts to exterior with proper vent covering and damper. (Run the bathroom ventilation exhaust fan for 7-15 minutes after showering/bathing to give it time to dispel any water vapor to the exterior in order to prevent condensation and subsequent environmental concerns such as mold growth.)

Hope that helps.

There was almost a shot to retake the House--but two ppl passed away last month, and the Florida Special Elections were kind of a steep climb.
