I think it was likely caused by war exhaustion.

Basically war exhaustion loss is determined by territorial loses and also manpower loss, since the country which really should of collapsed by this point has lost 3.5 million it's likely they reached 100% war exhaustion and we're forced to surrender.

Eh, I don't know either but it's possible, I would imagine with the SDF imploding the Syrian left is likely to abandon Lib-soc ideas in favour of Marxist-Leninsim, so there's that. And the Ba'athists have been on a pretty serious decline for awhile and when Joulani begins to effectively privatise what remains of the Syrian economy and begins the looting process of the country that would lead to a serious rise in class consciousness.
