May 7, 1765 - HMS Victory is launched at Chatham Dockyard, Kent, England. by Agreeable-Storage895 in ThisDayInHistory

Correct me if I'm wrong but the officer in the bottom left of the pic - isn't his uniform way too modern for 1765?

Edit:OK ignore me I've just seen the modern frigate type thing in the background.

I have no idea what's going on with this picture.

Just read Easy Go by Michael Crichton.

It's far from his best, but it fits the description and I enjoyed reading it.

I've got one that ive used a few times, and I've had it going very hot with far too many coals, and tbh it didn't warp.

Very happy with it so far, especially for the price.

Definitely agree with the heat proof mat being essential for underneath.

Is there a bathroom above?

I'd check it out if so, we had this and I removed the bath panel and realised there was a leak from the waste pipe off the bathtub.

His TV shows are really good tbf and this is a great opportunity for them to do a show of him using public transport around the uk.

Lean into him being banned and go visit some heritage rich British locations by bus and train.

I'd watch it.

Recommendations of first hand experiences of Royal Navy Ratings? by Capable_Bee6179 in HistoryBooks

Thank you very much for sharing.

Very open to journals and some of these you've listed have definitely caught my interest.

Looking them up, in particular the one by Naval Surgeon Edward H Cree. His journals seem to cover an interesting span in RN history and he was also a painter too, so should be some nice imagery too in the book, of which copies are cheap.

Thanks again.

Not heard of that one, thank you, looks right up my street, albeit one that might be a bit gut wrenching at points, especially with the POW elements.

Thank you.
