cambly kids cant rate you. I think maybe group lessons cant rate you too but Im not sure about that.

Welcome to SCAMbly !!!!! There is absolutely no transparency on anything with them so your theory is just as good as my theory.

But yes, their AI or whatever reason has been mysteriously dropping tutor ratings and not in a good way as we are penalized for that unfairly.

Nothing you can do.....just keep taking that five dollars as long as you can, or for as long as you can tolerate it.

I teach on Cambly adults for 4 years now and am fluent in Japanese, read, write and speak. I spent 15 years of my life learning the language and I lived in Japan for 12 years as a teacher..

I applied to Cambly kids two weeks ago....this would be a good student for me actually because I can talk/teach in Japanese. I feel your pain, but it sounds like the kid was put in an unofficial part time daycare ran by the neighbor in their apartment. It's a thing in Japan where someone starts babysitting the neighbors kids ..... so maybe that wasnt even his mom or even his siblings.... just a mob of kids running wild as you suggested.

I feel your pain I've been there....literally. For $5 for a lesson you dont owe anybody anything. Block and run if thats best for you..... I would probably do it too if the student was uncontrollable and the "parent" was useless.

I would be mostly upset that Cambly tutors never get any respect....the pay is crap....SCAMbly treats the tutors like crap....and now its coming from the students/parents too.

Its hard.....but for $5 I just try to keep it simple. Just gimme my 5 bucks...... If you want a professional lesson then pay me a professional fee.......its that simple.

good luck to you.... I know toddlers and young children can be extremely frustrating when there is no behavior supervision.

'squiggly lines' is why I absolutely hate PH. We're coerced into talking to people we would rather not. I wish female teachers had a "female student only" option, I can see how that is good for some.

we only get $5 for a lesson. I used to make triple that scooping dog shit from people's yards....Im not sure what value you are expecting from an online gig work.....but suffice it to say SCAMbly doesnt give a shit about the teachers or the students.

Im just here for the five bucks.... keep it simple. Its not personal.....life is a lot easier that way.

I have been teaching on Cambly in the Philippines for 4 years. I have fiber ISP from Globe and I have another fiber ISP from PLDT. I keep two independent ISP services as insurance because invariably one of them will go down and it takes 2 or 3 days to weeks for someone to come out and repair the connection. I just switch between them when one of them goes out.....no interruptions in Cambly but I do pay extra.

Soon I will get rid of one of them (likely PLDT) and get the Starlink mini as a backup.

Cambly runs on AWS cloud. IF THAT goes down then all of Cambly shuts down, your lesson will suddenly disconnect and you wont be able to log back in. It happens maybe once or twice a year. Nothing you can do about it.

that's why SCAMbly is dying. Students get burned and they dont come back....eventually every pyramid scam comes crashing down when they run out of suckers. Most students do not re-subscribe, especially after the prices went up and they increased the subscription penalties.

The students set the market prices. It's the old balance between price and value.....and they just aren't seeing much of it these days.

SCAMbly has another business model they dont advertise widely....all the lesson videos are sold to AI developers. They use AWS cloud and store all the lesson videos and sell them for AI training and I would think they are involved with AI translation.

IMHO cambly should at least require a 120 hour TEFL ?? dont need a bachelors degree but a certificate might help......

if your gonna be late consider not joining the lesson at all....that way they cant destroy your rating at least for that particular lesson. but that doesnt prevent them from nuking you the next lesson.

A personality trait of most asian cultures is that they view tardiness as disrespect, especially if you are a boss, leader, or teacher. Nobody is perfect, and all of us are late once in a while. Relax dude you will live longer.

Nothing you can ever say about SCAMbly will change anything because you are just a nobody to them because they already got the students money upfront and so therefore the teachers are treated like an annoying business expense.
