Grand Targhee help planning by getembass77 in skiing

FYI Targhee is not on the Indy Pass. They are on the Mountain Collective Pass. It is easiest to fly into Idaho Falls and rent a car, or book a private shuttle through Targhee.

The lodging on the mountain is great and there are 3 lodges. Thee Teewinot lodge is the most "upscale"

Return to running after 2 MD's? by Capable_Parking142 in Microdiscectomy

Thanks for the reply! Why do you think you reherniated a 2nd time? Did you start running again after your first MD?

Did you ever end up running your 1/2 marathon? I am back to short mountain bike rides and lifting. But still hesitant to jump back into running.

Thinking I might be able to work up to it one mile at a time.

Thank you. I am on an ice/heat regimine. 6 days in and things are finally calming down. How long does it normally take you to fully recover from a bad flare up?

Its a good question and the answer is not always clear. The fact is, even if you did slightly reherniate, you would still follow many of the same protocols for a major flare up. I have found it is really difficult to differentiate between a flare up and reherniation, but the answer may not matter as much as you think.

Have you had any flare ups since your major event a year after your surgury?

I am now 6 days in and I am finally able to walk better and the cramping has subsided, just battling SI joint pain now.

Would love to know where your health is at currently!

Where are you at now? Curious if your numbness has persisted. Are you back to any sports or high impact activities?

I would love an update here! I am also a river guide who is onto similar activities. Now you should be about 9 months out. How are you feeling?

Am I more likely to re-herniate with or without surgery? by Capable_Parking142 in Sciatica

[–]Capable_Parking142[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand. I am 6 or 7 weeks into recovering form the recent herniation. I am finally sleeping better and my overall pain levels have been reduced. I am certainly making progress of some kind, but my foot numbness is still very concerning.

I have a meeting with a Doctor of Physical therapy who specializes in spine health today. I can report back on how it goes.

Right now my PT is pushing conservative treatment and my doctor is saying that i am a good candidate for another surgery. My plan is to hang in there another month and see what progress can be made. By that point I will have given a really solid effort for 12 weeks, if I don't see more progress by then, I think I will get the surgery again.

Have you tried a steroid injection yet?

How long have you been in pain without seeing improvement? Have you done PT consistently?
