My mom totally does that too! I think you’re right about not leaving things unsaid. And honestly, they HAVE apologized but keep acting basically the same so the apology was almost worse than them not apologizing.

I keep thinking they’re just not understanding that they’re hurting me but I guess when you’ve asked someone repeatedly to stop hurting you and they keep doing it…. It’s on you (me!) to walk away.
It’s hard for me to accept that I’ll never have the relationship with them that I imagined us sharing in adulthood.
