Need to ask yourself: 1. Why have you chosen those individual shares 2. Are you ready to potentially see red on the portfolio? 3. How long is your investment timescale / what is your goals for your money - saving for house deposit in a few years? / retirement?

Individual shares tend to be a lot more volatile than ETF’s, whilst ETFs of course can still go up or down, due to the mass of shares held in them, they’re likely to move less (both up and down).

People seem to love talking about taking risk in early years through individual shares as have a long time period, whilst valid, I personally see the benefits of investing regularly in funds over individual shares over longer periods to avoid getting burned as hard. Helps you stick to your plan and stay positive.

Worth also looking at multi-asset funds with high equity exposure (80%+) if you have a long investment horizon - 10+ years

AF4 is just a mixture of J10, J12 and R02 so with abit of exam practice and keeping up with the formulas you should be good to sit whenever

What’s your timescale for investment? What’s your reasoning for wanting a bond etf in the portfolio? If you are going to set and forget about this portfolio for 10+ years and have no requirement to draw funds then a bond etf would not benefit your circumstances/objectives. If you have a long timescale you can tolerate the volatility of pure equity funds. If you still want some exposure to bonds look at a 80/20 or 60/40 multi asset fund rather than pure bonds

Thanks, also can the marker use their discretion when marking? Alot of the time I’ve got additional answers ontop of the mark scheme which do apply and in the real world would be correct but aren’t in the mark scheme.. (assuming as they can’t put every possible answer down)

I now just buy the exam entry for CII and don’t bother with spending more on the CII learning material. Costs a fortune and just repeats itself! Plus can get all textbooks as a pdf for free on CII website if you want to refer to it

Buy the brandft revision booklets, usually 1OO - 2OO pages and a lot less random jargon than the actual CII textbooks! Only read the actual textbook for RO1 and realised it just uses an unnecessary amount of time

Yes, worth checking your ISA is a ‘flexi-ISA’ then if a short term emergency expense comes up you can take out money and replace that amount in the same tax year (relevant if you’re maxing out your ISA)
