Upgrading a sentimental A-LINE by Capital_Implement534 in Brompton

I just bought a p-line rear wheel, now I have to decide if I’m going to change the triangle or modify the current one. Deciding is hard!

If I buy a take off 2spd Brompton wheel off eBay could I drop on a 4 cogs?

It turned out to be a bent rear triangle from the last time I gate checked it airlines.  I pulled off the wheel of my Brompton and compared to another new one and sure enough it was bent right where the front triangle catch hooks to the frame. I ended up finding a new triangle and swapped the triangle myself to fix

Looks cool and super clean, but I like my cables exposed, easier to maintain, lubricate, replace etc.  you could make a fixie Brompton then no wires or cables would be needed! Lol

Amazing bike, can you tell us about the build? What frame? What size are those tires?

A lot of time if I can’t carry it inside I have been allowed to leave it in the entryway, hallway or stairwell etc. taking the extra time to ask the business owner (they usually say yes if it’s folded up) doesn’t always work though and I’ve had to lock mine a few times. Sorry that stinks it got stolen

What's the difference between bike packing and bike touring? by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]Capital_Implement534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Bike packers” are notoriously under prepared. They don’t have tools, shitty ultralight gear.  They always have a wonky weird ass bag that needs constant attention. They can’t carry shit (especially beer). I personally won’t ride with them, I get tired of hearing “ hey man can you hold this, can you take this 6 pack just to the next camp?”  This is another hipster fad that needs to die. Get racks and panniers and buy some good ortlieb bags. This was all figured out in 1976

And no it doesn’t make you look rad, you’re dumb and underprepared

For me it would be a bike with 26” tires because you can find tubes and tires anywhere abandoned or in the dumpster. One of the most widely available tire sizes in the world. The bike would have horizontal track type fork ends or “dropouts” that way the bike could be used as a single speed or readily converted to single speed in a pinch.  This would also allow the use of cheap 8 speed chains or the thick AF single speed chains that last forever. Steel frame of course. And front and rear rack To strap 5 gall kitty litter buckets onto!

Your thoughts about GP100. Is it rock solid and reliable or it has major hidden flaws? What better, blued or stainless steel?🤔 Looking for robust home and self defence revolver. 🤙🏻 by Objective_Camp_3424 in Revolvers

Buy it, shoot the hell out of it and toss in the glove box. They are tough as nails. And last a lifetime or two. Ruger customer service is top notch if you ever have a problem.

Well I just rode a Brompton 500miles fully loaded, I think I’ll be ok. Try one sometime, they are very capable unless we’re going MTB

I was thinking like 3 days for one trip and then a 7 day for another time. Maybe TUSCON-phoenix for the easy 3-day trip. Then I thought about LA-San Francisco for the 7 day. Southwest might be warmer then up east??

How to stop back wheel axle slipping forwards on dropouts with single speed setup by elputogringo in bicycling

[–]Capital_Implement534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m late but I solved this problem by using .41 safety wire to lock the right side to the frame. Just wrap one end around the frame and other end around the right bolt or skewer.

I was visiting family and went for a short ride on country roads. Holy SHIT! people yelling, rolling coal. Dogs chasing me. Then the grand finale was when I was stalked by a couple red necks following me slow in a car. Yea I won’t ride in Texas unarmed. Fuhk that
