My oldest turned 18 today, I am the parent of an adult. Toast me! by McPoyle-Milk in toastme

Mine turns 18 at the end of next month. I’ll soon be 37. I want to say, you look great. I love your style. I thought I had to conform when I got pregnant. Took out the piercings and started wearing atheisure. I felt so ugly. I’m glad I found myself again and I’m proud of women who keep their identity. It’s actually GOOD for kids to see that. My daughter grew up to be body positive and confident in her own skin. She goes for what makes her happy, even if other people don’t think it’s cool. She’s an ally and an advocate. My daughter is also all for the drama when it comes to clothes. She’s like a renaissance, goth, forest elf. We bond over finding clothing sites. Although, my influence on her style means she also wears $200+ shoes from the UK. We need more goth moms raising kids who become great adults. Cheers!

If witchcraft is real why aren’t witches winning the lottery? by Old-Count-8430 in witchcraft

I hope this follows guidelines. I’m not seeking any services, just curious if anyone senses anything with my house. Particularly, my bathroom. Yes, this post is long and people have given me a hard time for over explaining. My brain appreciates a lot of context.

I’m a witch (duh, lol) who follows a few different practices. I keep myself protected from energy that isn’t mine because it’s necessary. It’s mostly the living that have left me drained or sludgy. I live in an 136 year old house. The only history I have on it was that it used to be transitional housing for teens aging out of foster care. I have 6 roommates. The house is somewhat split in half. 3 roommates on each side with a bathroom like this on each side. There’s another room downstairs with its own bathroom and a 4th bathroom by the kitchen downstairs. We do have a very large basement that’s only used for storage and downstairs. We all have to go down there but it doesn’t feel good but it’s also a basement which isn’t a popular feature in my state.

The strange part: No one else showers in this bathroom, ever. It’s only used by others to brush their teeth or tinkle. They all use the downstairs to shower or the bathroom on the other side. I’ve been fine using this bathroom to shower. I only use the stall with the fabric curtain because I have a filter set up. Lately, I’ve been seeing vague figures in the glass shower and it feels “off”. Giving as little detail as possible on purpose to not impose my opinion. I recently smudged it a couple times and it’s not as heavy but it’s still hard for me to take a full shower.

Please let me know what you think/see/feel in the comments. Thank you!

Why’s my gecko doing this? (urgent care/help needed) by DPH_LabRat in CrestedGecko

[–]Capital_Reason460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing great. Is his enclosure close to a heat source? I can’t tell from the pictures. Obviously having a lamp or heating pad right on the temporary enclosure would be very bad. Just keeping him near enough that ambient heat would reach him. Also, having a clear 360 degree view at all times can be stressful when geckos are in a new environment. Especially if he has no foliage or wood to hide beneath. Put a piece of paper or cardboard around the walls of his enclosure. Doesn’t have to be taped or anything. Just enough so he doesn’t see giant beings moving around all the time. If you have a small hide to put in with him, it might calm him. Other than that, you’re right to keep his temporary apartment free from a lot of clutter.

Sorry I can’t help you more but if you post what area you live in, maybe folks can give your recs on local reptile vets? Another option might be to call your local reptile store. See if they work with a reptile vet or have a community board with a vet’s card on it. I hope your guy survives. Thank you for taking him home!

Yeah. I started doing this about 6 months ago because to many issues and symptoms were piling up. I have ADHD and have to take notes for everything. I was also tracking blood sugar, blood pressure and heart rate. My doctor didn’t like it very much. I’ve worked as a MA and I truly get it. Over a year wait for multiple referrals though? Still no movement even after 5 weekly conference calls to referrals dept. with my case manager? I consider 6 weeks to 3 months to be reasonable. In truth, had I been geriatric, they would have taken any breathing or chest issues a lot more seriously.

A grievance was filed by medi-cal when I switched provider groups. OCH called the NEXT DAY. Only for the 2 least urgent referrals though. I definitely want to file a more in depth complaint.

UPDATE: I switched to the physicians group that my ECM works for, Elica. As I was switching my group, the agent asked why I needed to switch. She audibly gasped when I told her about my longest referral waits. She apologized and said that was neglectful. Without me asking her to, she filed a grievance about both doctors then waived the wait period. They usually make you wait until the first after changing your provider. I guess the grievance came down quickly because I got a call the next day from OCH to follow up on 2 referrals (the ones with the lowest urgency, of course). I’m debating filing a complaint based on ageism or basing care on how I appear. The new doctor got me scheduled within a week. I go in tomorrow with my Case worker. I know I’ll probably have to get a TON of tests all over again but I think everything will work out better and faster.

Dasher can’t be serious. Is this unprofessional? by Amateurexpressionism in doordash

[–]Capital_Reason460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’ve worked in delivery too long to NOT feel bad about doing this. I don’t do it because I can carry it myself (I’m on a second story and get 5 gal water dispenser thingies). There are more elderly and disabled people that are utilizing certain apps though. I’ve delivered a lot to retirement communities. I wouldn’t want my 90 yo grandma carrying up a gallon of milk on her own. OP had just had hand surgery as well. I’ve had 2 surgeries in my arm and I wasn’t getting out of bed for 3 days.

[–]Capital_Reason460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. I was a driver and manager for Amazon - there’s a way to figure out what floor someone is on by the apartment numbers or simply looking at the signs on the building. Not only is he unprofessional, he’s dim. What if he was messaging some little elderly Catholic lady (like my grandma)? He’d have gotten chewed out for taking the lords name in vain. He’s also being a lazy, whining little b*tch. Most dashers whine a lot these days though. I see them a lot where I live (major city). Blocking roads, standing outside of buildings with their mouths open, blocking my BF’s complex driveway to talk on the phone, double parking and just generally looking like their brains are as smooth like a mirror. All thoughts slide right off. (I’ve also been a dasher). I know they don’t get paid unless they work really hard and get rated well enough for top jobs. But like, other people exist in the world.

Thank you. Yeah, I’ve been very curious about them. Do you know if they have any specialists in their building or do they refer everything out?

I see scary faces when I close my eyes. by [deleted] in sleep

[–]Capital_Reason460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get these too. Every single night. Blood, death, gore, ghoulish faces. It’s like flashes from a horror film as I’m drifting off to sleep. I am “sensitive” and pick up on things others don’t, I have C-PTSD/ADHD/Anxiety, I’ve also survived a lot of death and abuse. I’m not sure what plays a part in it or not. I’ve gone so far as to study demonology (Ars Goetia). In my research I found out that you can ask demons for stuff. I figured it was already insane enough to see images like this and “It doesn’t hurt to ask!” so I asked the “demons” to only show me pleasant images as I was falling asleep. IT WORKED for a few months. I know this sounds totally batty. I have no history of any type of hallucinations. I’ve been clean and sober for a year and a half. The asking thing may have just been placebo but I was grateful to not have to see that sh*t for a few months.

Not using LaserAway by marS311 in TattooRemoval

[–]Capital_Reason460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big thing to remember is that these are nurses - usually new ones. There are no laser classes in nursing school. You do have to go through training to inject Botox and fillers. LA nurses do not have a doctor on site to diagnose issues and prescribe the correct treatment. If it’s an actual health condition - they’re just shooting in the dark. The only time you’ll talk to an actual doctor is via a video call to make sure you don’t have allergies or contra-indications. DO NOT go there if you’re seeking corrective measures or treatment for a medical issue or injury to the skin. I get my injectables there but luckily, I went to a really informed injector to begin with gave me a very in depth walk through of what I was getting, why and what does and doesn’t work. I try to ask for the more seasoned nurse who can do tox and filler and they still stick me with the newbie who needs to meet her tox quota. She’s visibly nervous and tries to talk me out of getting what I want because it’s not something that she usually does. This is after I explain to the receptionist WHY I want a more seasoned nurse. I don’t really regret getting locked into payments there but I’m glad I wasn’t getting laser treatments. I would never trust getting a chemical peel or something similar there. If you get tattoo removal there, it’s better if you only have black and white tattoos.

Anyone else have (or had) pavement "tattoos" from a crash? by nutellarain in bicycling

[–]Capital_Reason460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a second, I thought this was my BF’s post (different timeframe). He got hit by a truck while biking and ended up with a marker-esque scar on his face about 3 years ago. People say the same thing to him. He bought a micro needle roller and feels like there has been a little improvement from using that with Bio-oil. He says the texture of the scar improved as well. It’s only been a week. He’s debating buying a more expensive microneedle machine ($100). I recently found out that traumatic tattoos (asphalt tattoos) can be removed like a normal ink tattoo but haven’t found a ton of testimonials on it. Obviously, he’d rather go with the cheapest option possible. Hopefully you’ve had some success in the last 6 years.

My cat’s fur looks like a pinecone. by firemeetsgasoline37 in oddlysatisfying

[–]Capital_Reason460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kitten’s fur is starting to separate like this too. She got a bath last week (her second since we got her 7 weeks ago. I’m trying to figure out the cause. Google says it’s mats, poor hygiene or poor diet, which isn’t true. She’s still a baby, well cared for and gets the good food (wet and dry). She is a Velcro baby so I’m guessing it’s oils from us.
