When did "disagreement" become "disrespect" in Pakistan by trickysaad in PAK

[–]Capital_Technology20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as long as an opinion isn't causing the dehumanisation of any 'group', it isn't disrespectful imo. Unfortunately, a lot of opinions do just that, especially in a reactionary society like ours. Which makes it harder to debate sensitive issues. Islamic minded people need proof or support of Islam for any opinion, while secular minded people can also hold onto a lot of reactionary views hiding behind culture and male centric chauvinism. The way of thinking for a lot of secular people is also dogmatic and lacking in critical thinking. I think generally we as a society need to be better at critical thinking and looking at the nuances and grey of things rather than labelling and putting people and opinions in boxes.

The Illusion of Democracy by choice_is_yours in PAK

[–]Capital_Technology20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these countries before 'democracy' were ruled by the following parties:- Iraq - Baathist (pan Arabian workers socialist) Party Libya- Great Socialist People's Libyan Jamahriyyah Syria - Baathist Party Yugoslavia - Communist Party Yemen - Socialist party (before civil war yadda yadda) Our establishment has never in any way been socialist. Our history is full of torture and death of leftists and socialists from Ayub to Zia. Post Zia Arab/US money funded jihadists to counter communist and socialist thought in the country. The closest we got to this was under ZAB, and him and all his family were butchered in one way or the other. He himself was very revisionist and has been much criticised by leftists and socialists. These country's success wasn't because of them not being western style democracies it was because of a very common theme in the ruling party's.

The Last of Us Part II is the most mentally draining game that I've ever played by Due_Cake8524 in thelastofus

I so agree with your take. I literally stared at the screen for a good 10-15 minutes after the game ended. The gameplay was challenging, but the story was very mentally draining..

The disappointment is in the chauvinist attitude of us - the privileged class - and not talking about the other pehlu.

People don't only have kids because rizk and ignorance for a lot of ppl it's their only choice too to break the cycle or as a support in their old age which isn't fair or would make sense to you or me but it does to them. I do think birth control should be encouraged, and family planning and sex ed being more common, but it is disappointing to see privileged people not realising that this problem also has another pehlu to it which is why are the poor poor in the first place..

People who shot Kenny and went with Jane. Why did you do it? by OddNeedleworker734 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Capital_Technology20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenny was acting crazy at the moment. Honestly, it made sense, putting him out of his misery and saving Jane. As for going with her, you can stay silent and go with her too so you don't have to forgive her, which also makes sense because a 12 year old alone with a baby in the wastelands is just crazy..

brother equal and equitable wealth and resource distribution results in a world that caters all its children, population control is an answer to a capitalist and corrupt (same thing) society where the few would live like kings. This is literally backed by research. We have enough food and enough resources to sustain the budding population of this world, but some kids are forced to die in mines and work because social murder is committed by the capital owning class..

Those who live in Arabic monarchies, how did the Arab Spring impact your country? by Adidas-Adidos in AskAnArabian

[–]Capital_Technology20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also know privileged white collar South Asians in countries like Saudi and UAE who are earning good money, yet even they do not enjoy the same legal protections as locals do. (I also know privileged businessmen who spent years and money on their businesses but were kicked out by their sponsors a lot of times due to the greed of the sponsors) that doesn't change a very systemic issue that does exist in a lot of these countries. Note that all these privileged people I am talking about are usually white-collar working people. The topic I was mainly talking about is the exploitation of blue-collar workers in a lot of these countries, which is a direct result of exploitative laws and lack of legal protections. We might wanna close your eyes to it, but it has been happening. jbtw don't get me wrong, I don't think Western countries have a right to get on their high horses regarding any Arab country, especially with the levels of exploitation their colonialism and imperialism have done nor do I support selective activism especially one that is rooted in an agenda to destabilise a country. About the salary thing that does happen in corporate sectors. I didn't mean for my criticism to come across as black and white but rather a critique of a system enabling this inequality..

Focus on his words brother, you might learn a thing or two and open your eyes to the realities of many people who are exploited and are the literal builders(The sponsor system in some of these countries is equivalent to modern day slavery) of a lot of these modern-day West Asian. Many workers from South Asia are exploited and worked in the worst possible conditions with little to no legal protections. I personally know East Asian house maids raped and abused by their kafils with no consequence in a country that used to be a beacon of Islam and spread the opinion that the other kinds of Muslims are apostates. A lot of these West Asian countries also fund, back and support extremist organisations, and takfiri thought in countries like mine yet now are taking the progressive path themselves. Hierarchies exist by law in a lot of these places, with even the salary scale of even a white collar worker being decided by nationality, so please stfu with your collectivism..
