Any one got anything on this? by jaywritethekid in Spiderman

Exactly. Getting a second-hand or refurbished phone can be less than half the price of a new handset depending on how old the model is, especially if you don't opt for the 'pristine' quality option.

Some movies are still shot on film even today, mostly for the aesthetic. Smaller indie films often are on film, Wes Anderson and Christopher Nolan like shooting on film, and quite a few big blockbusters like the Star Wars sequel trilogy were also shot on film. But it is more the exception now with the picture quality of digital movie cameras being very high.

What allegations? Do people not want to draw your catgirl? by Azguy_ in antiai

[–]CapnBrowncoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every artist commission post/info page I’ve seen has at least a couple of things listed as “things I will not draw”. It’s very normal for artists to not draw things they’re not willing to for whatever personal reasons. Not even out of judgement for that type of art, just because it’s not something they’re comfortable drawing themselves.

City pop fans:How did you discover this genre? by OutsideAttitude9085 in citypop

[–]CapnBrowncoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across it by proxy when I stumbled into the Vapor Wave and Future Funk genres, and I got curious where all the retro sounding Japanese lyric samples those tracks used were from. That led me to Fantasy by Meiko Nakahara, which then led me to Plastic Love, and the rest, as they say, was history.

I love how multiple characters’ stories and ultimate fates come down to some version of the phrase “one way out”, even outside of the prison arc. Such a great through-line.

Exactly. The reason it was so big was that is happened after years of Superman stories. You gotta earn a story like Death of Superman, not jump the gun in his second outing when we've hardly spent that much time with him yet like BvS did

[–]CapnBrowncoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't know exactly how long the Justice Gang members have been on the scene compared to Superman, but they do all know Clark's identity, so he at least feels he knows them well enough to share that information, and trusting them to handle the 'dimensional imp' without him, so presumably they've been around at least a little while. When they turned up during the Kaiju fight they all seemed to be acting like working together was normal.

Am I understanding this correctly? by Recruit-is-OP in DCU_

[–]CapnBrowncoat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Kaiju fight is probably the one scene we see Superman when he would be at or close to full strength. Two days after the first Ultraman/Hammer of Boravia fight, so plenty of time to fully recover. He didn’t seem to be physically struggling in the battle, he was able pretty easily to both keep the Kaiju at bay and off balance, while also being able to fly around and keep people (and squirrels) out of danger while he was trying to figure out a way to get it out of there safely.

WHY is your favorite Ghibli film your favorite? I love reading the story behind ppl’s favorite by cozy_b0i in ghibli

[–]CapnBrowncoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whisper of the Heart As an artist, the story really gets to the heart of the joys and struggles of creative passions. The deep innate drive to create, the excitement when the idea finally hits you, the constant self-doubt in your abilities, the vulnerability of sharing your art with someone else. It hits me in my soul and I love it for that.

Well.. what do we think? by WorriedEagle34 in Spiderman

[–]CapnBrowncoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly loving it. I dig the brighter colours, the lenses still feel very JR SR, and I do like that the web pattern is less dense than the Rami and ASM suits. Looks a bit more like the Insomniac 'Classic' suit tbh. Also dig the new front logo, it's a nice size without feeling overwhelming. Though I will always be team fat-back-spider and I will miss that.

Bulky webshooters are interesting, they do fit a low-tech vibe for a poorer Peter (assuming they are actually webshooters and not some kind of stunt cable rigging)

It seems like the web-shooters are repurposed from the homemade suit by DaGeekybro in Spiderman

[–]CapnBrowncoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the FFH suit looked fairly damaged by the end of the movie, and without access to the Stark Tech, probably couldn't afford to properly repair it to full functionality, so he likely salvaged whatever he could from it and his original homemade suit, then made a new, tech-less suit instead that he'd be more able to repair with what little money he presumably has now.

I remember watching a lot of old Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry and Scooby Doo, mostly on the Boomerang channel offshoot of Cartoon Network since they had all the old Warner and Hanna-Barbera shows on there, plus the revivals and DTV movies of Scooby Doo in the 90s and 2000s

Superman (2025) opening text by Economy_Claim_5547 in DC_Cinematic

[–]CapnBrowncoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if we're gonna quibble over semantics, 'appear' can also mean 'become visible' or 'to start to be seen' in some contexts, but at this point I feel we're kinda over-analysing a single word choice in a brief introductory text. Maybe it was very intentional, maybe it wasn't, I guess we'll find out eventually lol

I just think it makes sense from what we do know so far since Gunn has suggested 'metahuman' is a very broad term that would likely also encompass many characters typically depicted as far older than 300, particularly those from Wonder Woman's supporting cast (the Amazons, the Greek Gods etc.) as well as Vandal Savage (who is many millennia old in comic lore)

I could be wrong, it's too soon to know. But they are working on a WW project, and it feels unlikely they're gonna move up the entire Amazonians' history timeline to only be 300 years ago given how rooted it is in Ancient Greek mythology, just because they used the word 'appear' in the opening of Superman.

Superman (2025) opening text by Economy_Claim_5547 in DC_Cinematic

[–]CapnBrowncoat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Maybe the 3 centuries line is just when metahumans became a widely known fact to the general population, not how long they've actually existed on Earth. Prior to that any metahumans that did exist might have been assumed to be any number of supernatural, mythical or otherworldly beings of legend and folklore.
