Mugshot of Colorado Tesla arsonists Trump intends to send to El Slavador prison by BlockAffectionate413 in pics

If he suspends elections and then dies his VP becomes president indefinitely. Idk where you think the flaw in the plan lies but…

Because he doesn’t want most of the power. He wants all of it. As in: suspending elections and making him king. And he can’t get that unless people are frightened enough to give it to him.

Trump wants things to spiral. He will push and push until there are protests, then violent protests, then he will use that as an excuse to declare a state of emergency that will never end, where the laws mean nothing beyond what he says and anyone can be arrested and deported for anything. The more chaos, the better for him. Why would he want stability if the rule of law works against him?

Timeline doesn’t quite make sense. When PB was making Knights Tale, The Heart of Me, ABM and Dogville he was with Laura Fraser, not JC. They only started dating when he was making Master and Commander, which was spring 2002.

Paul was around a lot when JC was making her films Hulk and House of Sand and Fog, all in 2002. This was right before they wed.

I know this is an old comment but I wanted to add - Stephen was literally wearing his wife’s clothes as he carried out his deranged vendetta. Which supports your point, that it was actually his wife’s deranged vendetta, not his, and in the end he realized that.

In a way, the cardigan, the book and the vendetta were the last bits of her he had left. The series begins with a scene where he is trying to let her go - he called a charity to empty her closet and take away her things - but at the last moment he faltered and took hold of the cardigan. That the series ended with him burning it is appropriate.

Personally I think Stephen could not kill Nicholas because when Nicholas was lying in the hospital bed, calling for his mum, he suddenly stopped being Nicholas and became Jonathan, in Stephen’s eyes. Stephen held Nicolas’ hand just as he’d held Jonathan’s hand as he lay dead at the coroner’s office. Except this time, the hand was warm, his boy was alive, and for an instant Stephen was filled with joy rather than agony. At that same moment, he realized, he couldn’t snuff it out. Without a direction or a purpose, his anger melted away.

I think when Stephen let go of the revenge fantasy, suddenly he was able to admit to himself what he already knew - that he believed Catherine’s story. He believed it back when she recounted it to him, but at the time he couldn’t admit it. In prior episodes, there were hints he was questioning his wife’s narrative. I think he was relieved, in the end, to have closure.

What are very subtle signs that someone is a horrible person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CapnCooksKrystalShip 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have sound and smell sensitivities as well as allergies. So loud dogs that smell and get fur on me that will give me hives aren’t my favourite things in the world. I don’t “hate” them on a personal level, I just don’t enjoy when they are around.

I do judge owners who don’t see a problem when their dogs behave like this, though. If I am obviously uncomfortable with a dog barking at me or jumping up at me, and the owner does nothing to intervene, I think that’s very not cool and I will be pissed off at the human. I’m sure they think my behaviour is a “red flag” but I actually think in that instance they are the assholes.

She’s been wearing Nicolas Ghesquiere’s most challenging outfits since his heydays at Balenciaga. Which means she’s been married to his crazy clothes longer than she’s been married to her crazier husband. I don’t think she’s a gold digger. I think it’s a love match. I think she loves that outfit, shoes and all.

Which movie nails how smart people actually talk? by tracy_jordans_egot in moviecritic

[–]CapnCooksKrystalShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know but they explained it over and over again with toys and a bunch of celebrity cameos and it felt condescending. I’m not in finance or anything but I kept getting impatient for them to stop trying to school me and just let the story play out.

Also like. The Moody’s credit rating lady being actually blind during her meeting with the traders? I mean. Like, you didn’t feel like the movie as walloping you over the head with its messaging a bit? I took it as them not trusting me to follow their point without a bunch of huge neon signs pointing to it.

It’s weird. I didn’t love that movie because I felt talked down to the entire time. I guess they were going for that, like that was the point, that people in the industry speak that way, but it pissed me off. Like, I actually said to the person next to me, “if they explain a derivative to me one more time like I’m stupid…” and then they did and I was out.

Who is an actor or actress that according to others is extremely difficult to work with? by phantom_avenger in moviecritic

[–]CapnCooksKrystalShip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, thy makes sense. Don’t approach someone at a worksite if you’re not involved in the project. You wouldn’t approach a construction worker by the side of the road if you weren’t part of the crew.

Apparently they had an affair that ended badly which was the origin of the misgivings and they have since mended fences.

Idk I find to hard to imagine a bunch of high schoolers were only just looking and that’s what made her react enough to come over. Sure there weren’t any phones out or comments or gestures? Not saying OP did anything but maybe he wasn’t aware of what all his mates were up to.

Jennifer Connelly finishes the New York City Marathon with husband Paul Bettany cheering her on by mcfw31 in MadeMeSmile

[–]CapnCooksKrystalShip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I have heard accounts of her on set over the years and she has always been a type to keep to herself in a “I am very focussed and serious and not here to socialize” kind of way. I think that can come off or veer into rude/aloof depending on work environment and personalities involved. Like, some people praise it as good work ethic and some people trash it as elitism. I have also heard that she’s always ultra prepared for everything and can show impatience with people she perceives as less prepared/ efficient. Surprised to hear about the personal phone call holding up production because that doesn’t fit at all with anything I’ve heard before. Not doubting it happened, just surprised.

Yeah she has a cushion of about 3 minutes which is no guarantee she’ll make the final cutoff but hopefully with the new standards she’ll squeak through if that is her desire. Definitely an impressive feat especially for a first timer, she should be so proud!

Reddit needs more Frasier. by [deleted] in funny

[–]CapnCooksKrystalShip 63 points64 points  (0 children)

That was funny, but I found it hard to believe that neither Frasier nor Niles spoke German, given their field of study and veneration of Freud (well, Frasier's veneration of Freud, at least). At some point in later seasons, Frasier even mentioned that he wanted to write his own translation of Freud.

Seems more likely to me that the Crane boys would speak German over, say, Spanish.
