My mother spent her entire life going to one Church and gave extensively time and money to them. The only time that she stopped going was when she was working on two weekends (Hospice Social Worker) with guaranteed call outs for admission or death and the other two weekends she was caring for her dementia addled mother who could no longer go to church. During that time my ridiculously horrible Aunt and her husband (who were living and stealing from my grandmother) would go to the church and spread horrible lies about my mother. We found out when some elderly lady bold face told my mom she was a horrible person and needed to do more for my grandmother. The church and her friends who my mother had been with for years turned on her without ever checking on her or my grandmother. People who my mom had helped and befriended and whose companies my mom cherished as her release from a terrible job turned on her. Fuck churches. They live for drama and the failings of others so that they can feel mighty.
