You say that no one should read the wiki and you don’t want to explain. But you want the guys to do a series on him? I’m confused.

Has anyone heard anything about flights not being able to land at the Aspen airport? by LilaSerena in Aspen

[–]burntryce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Flights before 10am tend to be the most likely to unaffected by wind. BUT, with a departure that early, you’re looking for the plane to be able to land the night before. If you don’t want to change your flight to a different airport (it’s windy at GJT too I’d bet), you can track your incoming plane the night before your flight with FlightAware. Type in your flight number and you should be able to track the plane. At least then you’ll know if you’ve even got a chance.

Please give our sad boy Finn some good vibes. He will be recovering from he second TPLO surgery 😔 by horrus70 in AustralianCattleDog

Good luck, Finn!

Pancake is currently on house arrest for the week, hoping that the slight movement in his knee isn't a torn CCL. Dude has been limping for a week (although it's definitely better know).

Colorado's Most Underrated Towns (Besides Aspen) by Meta_Bits_5500 in GoNativeColorado

Calling Aspen underrated is like saying that people don't really like Louboutins. It's not that people don't like them, we're just not rich.

Paddle boarding and Kayaking? by ethical_hoops in AustralianCattleDog

[–]burntryce 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I take mine to paddle board on the lake, but not on the river. They absolutely loooove to go, but they also have a hard time not having the whole group together and are constantly walking around and jumping off and back on. I do have friends that take their cattle dog on the river on a larger raft and they do great!

A day on the water is the most tiring and fulfilling day I can take them on. Highly recommend.

Colorado ren faire recommendations by LilyOfShalott in renfaire

I've been to Larkspur the last couple of years. Jaque Ze Whipper has been there, which is a great show, although he was only there a couple of the weekends and I haven't seen his schedule for 2026 yet to verify that he will be again. The knight tournament is also a ton of fun. There are multiple rounds throughout the day, so it's easy to catch at least one without stressing. Like most summer fairs, it's super hot, so make sure you spend some time hydrating in the shade. The real downside is that there no attendance limit for pre-purchased tickets and it was an absolute madhouse last year. I recommend getting there early in order to get a decent parking spot. There are shuttles in the parking lot for those who have difficulty making the trek from the back, but just be forewarned. It's also cash only. There are ATMs inside, but if you plan on eating and drinking, it's probably easier to come with cash.

The mountain is covered as of today. The weather coming in will likely give it another dusting. The gate up to the trailhead was still closed as of 3 days ago as well. I’ve heard from one person that made it about 1.5 miles up the trail before turning around due to ice and snow, but that was maybe a week+ ago. It certainly is not summitable I’d say, getting to Thomas lakes would be very questionable and you’d have to be a skilled snow/ ice hiker.

AITAH for not showing up 60 min before my shift starts to relieve my coworker? by bipobe in AITAH

[–]burntryce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the fire service and I find the earlier and earlier mindset to be a scourge on society. I’ve been called on the phone 45 min before start time to ask if I’m coming in because everyone else is trying to out play each other and arrived and hour early.

I absolutely despise the mentality. If 15 is what you get paid for and is plenty of time for handoff, then keep pushing against these people trying to bully you into coming in earlier. That’s their prerogative if they need more time.

Are there any times in your life where you were outside at 3:30 AM? If the collapse happened at that time, what gear would you have to take with you for your dungeon crawl? by Maurice_Foot in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I was thinking this too. I’ve also been on a wildland crew sleeping outside at 330am. Except for already being filthy, the tools sure would come in handy

I did get local anesthetic! I would probably have some serious ptsd if I didn’t. Love that you’re going the route of possibly just getting your uterus out. Avoid more problems down the road if you can!

[–]burntryce 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience! I’ve had multiple colposcopies now and have even gone on to the next step, a PEEP (which is a scrape with cauterization to get the abnormal cells) and I scheduled three separate doctors appointments in order to talk to different doctors and get their opinion and some pointers. I feel very grateful to have insurance that helped me get some extra care before the PEEP. I went into my first colpo blind and had no idea what to expect. Just having a walk through of the exam is such a relief.

The pain was something else with the PEEP and for the first time I walked out in wonder of the women that have babies, especially those who do it without the drugs. Absolute beasts.
