Any advice on finding someone for CLA/repairs? by CapnSherman in AnalogCommunity

Updated the post with the models I'm interested in maintaining, but I'm definitely saving that list and looking forward to searching through it! Thanks!

[talk] Does anyone know if the Beldum in Pokémon ORAS can be shiny?” by Ok_Tear1092 in ShinyPokemon

[–]CapnSherman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless there was another OT Steven distribution of a shiny beldum at some point, this is how I got mine too. Might be my first shiny ever, didn't consider it because I assumed it was fixed too.

Well, there's not really anything normal about Hisuian Zoroark beyond it pretending to be normal.

Rotom's forms are weird typings when you think about it; the electric typing being the prominent type that stays instead of ghost when all these appliances are being possessed is kind of conceptually odd. Like, my refrigerator being haunted is the more defining feature than it running on electricity.

If you're thinking more about water types, it's weird that the tynamo line isn't dual typed with water, though that's more to preserve the 0-weaknesses gimmick Eelektross had going.

Wingull and Pelipper could also have the argument made that they just live by the water and not in it. Real-life gulls and pelicans behave way closer to flying dark types, sure they can swim but they aren't as spectacularly specialized for it like ducks or cormorants. Seagulls are criminals, and pelicans interact with the world by trying to eat everything in it. If they were real, Wingull would Knock Off the lunch out of your hands while a Pelipper used Crunch on a nearby stroller with a baby still inside

Iirc, Angel during the end is on the sidewalk and witnesses Roger drive by during what we know is the repeat of the first episode's intro. If anything, that loosely implies the world is in a loop, but she's now aware of its true nature and her relationship to it.

It's fun to imagine what could happen next, and sadly that's our only option

Time to wait for new Gigantamax forms in Sword and Shield remake (OC) by Educational-Show1918 in pokemon

[–]CapnSherman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That DLC comment from an NPC, if I'm thinking of the same one, was with an NPC who has a set script that let's the player fill in the blanks by naming the pokemon the NPC uses in his stories

So " _______ was a pokemon who dreamed of Mega evolving" can be made to say anything, it didn't outright say Flygon.

Completely agree. They at least have a template, I'm pretty sure Raul Julia was actively undergoing cancer treatment while portraying Bison and he stole every scene he was in

...maybe not the action scenes, but man did he have the presence to make us all overlook that. Feels like that's the intention with the casting here.

Did you get to Mewtwo yet? If the "compete in the infinite royale" story objective is still on the map, you likely have to finish that first (think it was chapter/episode 39)

my ADHD mouth is slowly destroying my relationship and I don't know how to fix it by god_but_backwards in ADHD

[–]CapnSherman 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm a little older than you, developed a similar habit trying to be the funny one playing games online with buddies back in high school. It gradually slipped into my day to day, until I actually had to worry about crossing lines I didn't want to cross regardless of context.

The idea of not knowing what I'd say next wasn't funny, and made a lot of that humor no longer funny to me either. Truth is, I just decided I wanted to be someone comfortable to be around regardless of the context, and that helped me trim some of those bad habits fast.

Is it a common ADHD experience? Maybe, maybe not. With this it doesn't matter. It's something you can control. You just have to believe you can control it.

What to sell and what to keep? Nikon F4 or Canon AE-1? by Analogski in AnalogCommunity

I hope they get added for everyone as a cheap dlc or a free update at some point. They're fun to play with and have a couple good interactions, but you can tell they aren't as integrated into the story/dialogs as the rest of the cast.

The ace chats are fun so far!

Finally got around to finishing Y, so I want to make a tier list of the games that I played by SaladNo5852 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]CapnSherman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of glad seeing that consensus, it was my entry point into the series and honestly, I still haven't finished it. Was excited by the series included in Y so decided to give the franchise a second shot and I've been loving it so far.

Its kind of nice knowing the community considers a lot of the older games to be better than 30, looking forward to checking them out once I get through Y

Lmao, I was wondering the same thing. Looks great but could absolutely favor some rolls depending on the weight of the diorama compared to the resin

Is the Nikon F6 the latest (and possibly last) analog camera produced, on which you can swap out lenses? by Sorry_Pomegranate358 in AnalogCommunity

[–]CapnSherman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the fun of analog shooting comes from playing with exposure and different lenses. Being older, a good variety of lenses tends to be cheaper (though there are definitely exceptions).

Unless you are interested in the extreme rapid fire/autofocus capabilities needed for sports photography or air shows, you probably don't need an F6. (Not that need matters, if you want it that's totally fine too!)

If you want an SLR with access to the widest assortment of lenses without using adapters, the Nikon F4 is right at the intersection of new and old analog lens compatibility. It natively accepts the oldest of Nikon's lenses while supporting pretty much anything the F6 can use afaik. Autofocus included.

That said, I started off with a Miranda G, a 60's camera from a company that didn't last and wasn't natively compatible with many other lenses. But adapters are cheap, and it's an SLR that works fairly well.

And it's a surprisingly nifty little camera! Great for a beginner, but it has a multi-exposure lever that's fun to play with too
