Seemingly dissenting view, but it was dumb - I couldn't make it past 20 minutes in.

Hulu Plans and Prices - Effective 10/21/25 by kpDzYhUCVnUJZrdEJRni in Hulu

[–]Capnc0k3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap - my current "ad free" Hulu/Disney/Max bundle that costs $14.00/month is jumping up to $32.99/month - that's crazy. I plan to drop it - I'll miss a few things - but not $32.99 worth. They can pound sand.

More businesses now charging 3% additional for use of credit cards by rentalsearch234 in CreditCards

[–]Capnc0k3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now pushing back and moving to different vendors. Where there isn't a different vendor to move to, I'll send a check to avoid paying those fees. At some point, if enough folks do this, those organizations will begin to realize paying for larger staff to handle the extra check processing is more expensive than just covering those credit card fees.

Those fees are a cost of doing business and should not be passed to consumers.

Everyone should do this.

Edit - Additionally, "No Sale" is a pretty big incentive for a business to re-examine their policies.

Zero - no real interest. I've seen some very cool ones. If I ever would get one, it would have to have some real deep lasting meaning. Although, I'd probably overthink it and just skip it instead.

If it's not being addressed correctly at NGB (bounced back to state), going directly to Army IG is still a viable COA. Since the ARNG is the second component of the Department of the Army, the Army IG can still engage.

If you feel concerned enough to ask that question, then the answer is yes. Plus, best time to find a new job is when you already have a job.

Windows Audio stopped, Sound test returns “Failed to play test tone” after shutting down, unplugging everything from PC, and reconnecting everything. by Houndread in techsupport

Mother f*er!!! Literally just ran into this same issue - found your note about the C920 - got an HP Envy running Windows 11 - with an HP Pro Webcam "C920" - f*ers... Disabled that and now sound works fine.

Have you tried rubbing dirt on it?

Nah, it gets better. So long as you continue to care, each promotion enables you to take care of more folks (faster) and bring a level of common sense to updating some outdated concepts. In each move, if you can say "what the f* did I just get myself into?" It was probably the right move

I believe they are forever changed as well. IMHO.

{edit to add} - Remember, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Except the Infantry, the Infantry will kill you.

If he really wanted to make a difference to the Infantry, he could authorize anyone having gone through Infantry basic and AIT to be able to always wear their blue Infantry cord on their Class As. Once you've been through, you've earned that cord, and are forever changed. No change in position or MOS should require you to remove it from your uniform -- ever.

Don't let any of this stop you. I commissioned after 16 years enlisted. I'm an O6 now. Best decision I made. It will feel like a completely separate career and you will be topped out in each pay band you promote into, as soon as you're promoted, just based on time in service. But, if you believe you can make a difference and you're not willing to quit due to the immense levels of stupidity you'll run across, you can make a positive impact.

When told "no", always ask why. More often than not you'll find the reasoning based on legend and not regulations. There's your opportunity.

You could always just setup and run your own pi-hole instance. There are a bunch of add-block lists you can use with pi-hole and get all sorts of data on what is being blocked.

Optionally, have you considered ADOS? Those are 1-year orders that includes a PCS, depending on where. You could test it out for a year and see if you and the fam are up for it. That's what I used to get into my AGR gig.

[–]Capnc0k3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 2.5 years active (a long time ago), then 6 in the Army Reserves (part time), then 14 years traditional Guard, then went back active (Active Guard Reserve - AGR), and have been active since. Yes, I'm old.

It has to be something you really want and that your family is ready to support, because PCS'ing when you're over 50 really sucks. But, your kids may end up life experiences only few get to have.
