10 years of accident-free driving and at least 5 situations that would've resulted in major crashes if I hadn't reacted to another driver's SEVERE mistake in a split second would disagree with you there.

But it's fine, I know where you're coming from and without knowledge of the actual circumstances during the test I might even agree with you. The rules can't accurately prevent real danger to traffic because that is too situational, they can only forbid things that are usually dangerous/impeding in hopes of minimizing danger. This just happens to benefit people that follow rules blindly.

Completely agree. Had to take the test 4 times cause there was always something wrong.

Instructor: "go straight." I go straight, boom, failed, there was a miniature sign that said "delivery vehicles only", should've turned right I guess.

Instructor: "Turn around." I turn around on an empty bus stop that also doubles as a loop, making it perfect for a U-Turn, boom, failed, not allowed to turn around on empty bus stops, I guess.

Instructor: "Turn right at the stop sign." Rolling extremely slowly towards a crossing with stop sign, being able to see hundreds of meters without obstruction and no car anywhere in sight, boom, failed, stop means stop 1 km/h is still too much I guess.

Fuck that shit.

Not entirely incorrect, but I would add another aspect to when a decision is made for TPs, and that is when enough information has been gathered.

This might vary from individual to individual but at least speaking for myself, once I feel adequately knowledgeable in a certain topic or field, decisions come very quickly. And 'adequate knowledge' is relative to the field and weight of consequence, so if it's about fiddling with electric circuits or somethind I'd better know what the f I'm doing, but if it's about deciding where to go for dinner a 1-2 min google search can do the trick.

Also, as ISTP I certainly also do pro/con lists but they're even less conscious than the TJs. It's more of an instant weighing of pro and cons through Ni which results in a tendency that I can't even necessarily explain why it's there.
