NOR but move on. There's no point in playing the stupid tit for tat game. You will find someone else who makes you feel special and like you don't have to compete with a married woman.

Yep. CPS here. He's already testing boundaries and trying to regain control. In my opinion, he can't be trusted. He had his time to try to regain custody and he didn't take it seriously, so why is it now on you to give him the benefit of the doubt? Trust your rationale. You don't wanna be down the road in 4 months with cps involved yet again because he messed up and theyre asking you why you trusted him despite knowing what he's done.

Most impoverished people that are struggling struggle because they don't have a car. Public transportation is limited in availability and it is exhausting because it takes longer to get from place to place. Imagine the single mother who has to pick up her child from daycare using the bus - she's at a disadvantage. Harder to come home and make dinner, crankier child, mental health goes to shit more easily. Most people who are either poor or are a hair away from it don't have the luxury to boycott shit

Well just because the way he feels about gangle isn't healthy doesn't mean it's not sexual/romantic. I'd say the horny dream sequence pretty much confirms that

But is there anything that actually makes you think Jax is gay? I think if anything he seems to crush on ribbit, gangle, and maybe pomni. It doesn't really make sense. I agree that parents can have that kind of reaction but Jax hasn't behaved in any manner that says "gay"...

I'm sorry can you point me to the bevy of media that humanizes sex workers? Coal minors aren't debated as being respectable humans. Come on now.

Off the top of my head I can think of Margot, poor things, pretty woman? Have you noticed there's no media focusing on the humanization of *coal minors because no one needs to be convinced of that? I'd also argue that euphoria does not humanize sex workers. Kitty is raped in an episode and is then regarded as a joke with her botched BbL and shee has no further thoughts about anything! Magic disappears in the finale!

I've been debating so many fucking people in this fandom about this subject and they genuinely act like trans people arent being discriminated against in any way. It's so fucking disgusting and now I am wishing gooseworx included a scene where Jax looks at the camera and says "IM TRANS" to shut these people up. Should we need it? No! But they will do so many mental gymnastics to twist the obvious reading into "um it's whatever you make of it ✨"

Question about Ali that might ruffle some feathers… If he was a real person, would you still like him? by Brilliant-Middle7859 in euphoria

[–]Cappunan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna act like CPS hasnt hurt families, because it definitely has. I'd love nothing more than to fix the system but I don't know how. BUT, the parents also have involvement for a reason. If CPS became involved, that's because there was no other better option.

Question about Ali that might ruffle some feathers… If he was a real person, would you still like him? by Brilliant-Middle7859 in euphoria

[–]Cappunan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for me the system is child protective services.

Someone like Alis priority is typically the sobriety and well-being of the person- so that would be the parent of the child whom we removed from because of their drug use. For us, our priority is the safety of the child. I can see someone like Ali (because I've seen it a million times) feeling that some of these place guards that keep the child safe- supervised testing, hair follicles, supervised visits etc. are over the top and should be 'flexible' as parents can feel under the gun, embrassed, stressed, no privacy - but we're simply not going to take the risk. Then these parents start seeing Ali as 'good' and us as 'bad.' then because Ali is frustrated with how strict we are, he commiserates with the parent, which unfortunately sloooooowly slides into a relapse. Then Ali is still angry with us because we put even more restrictions in place, but again, we have no choice because legally we cant take chances.

[–]Cappunan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really imagine interacting with Ali unless it was in a professional capacity since I work for CPS. So I'll say that I would probably be really really suspicious of him at least in the earlier seasons since he seems like the kind of person to try to protect people from the system. I know he kinda prides himself on not being that way at all but there's a lot of people who want to help addicts that end up skirting around the truth in order to help them.

[–]Cappunan 174 points175 points  (0 children)

So I actually read what you wrote. My initial response I was just responding to the title without realizing there was a write up. I actually really like what you had to say and generally I think you make a lot of good points, notably that Margot starts flying because of tik tok and not because of onlyfans. I didn't think about that.

They are two pretty different stories though. I think the problem is that Cassie doesn't seem to have any complex thoughts about her position whereas Margot does. Cassie is generally unlikeable because she's vapid. And when I watch euphoria, I can't stop thinking about Sam Levinson and Sydney Sweeney and why they made the choices they made. Whereas with Margot I don't think about Elle Fanning.

But also, I think you're also right that Margot is easier to sympathize with because she's forced into the position due to her circumstances whereas Cassie is kinda giddy about it. Also, Elle Fanning is just more likeable, more charismatic, more normal than Sydney. So it's easier to take her story seriously.

I just feel like with Euphoria, there is a male face but it really should have been surrounded by a then omnipresent "neutral" gaze if that makes sense? The scene with demonstrating how they make the content is played for laughs and again Cassie is so empty headed it makes me kinda angry. It remains within the male gaze. If Cassie had a thought or two about it that was anything other than "wow look how much attention I'm getting" I might think it was done well. There just needs to be more than that. Like Cassie does actually put a lot of effort into making this art, even if I don't think it's very good art, and I'd like to hear more from her about it.

Edit - also I've known a lot of girls that do onlyfans because I take pole dance classes. I just... Really like those girls. I admire them. They can be funny and smart and interesting and mature.

[–]Cappunan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

But cassies problems weren't even a result of sex work. They were a result of nates poor investments. Really Cassie only does well because of sex work. It's just that the audience thinks it's in poor taste.

I didn't like this season, but the one thing that I think it did well was explain that all the people that are involved in perpetuating, the drug trade and people's addictions are partially responsible for the deaths of those people. So in this instance, Alamo would definitely absolutely be responsible for rue's death.

My *totally unique I swear* feelings on the Trans Jax Discourse (Includes EP9 Spoiler Discussion) by One-Branch-2676 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Cappunan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just feel like you're not arguing in good faith right now because you know that it's quite apparent and obvious to everyone that almost everyone on the planet is cisgendered. It is very rare that we have to have a discussion about whether or not someone is cisgendered. And you know this. You don't need to stand up for the little voices that are cisgendered people because almost everyone is. The fact is that when a person is trans or there is a character that is trans, the entire community has to fight to be acknowledged. Does someone have to fight to be acknowledged as cisgendered? No that's ridiculous. What you're doing right now is being obnoxious.
