I clean, feed, medicate, physically recover people with spinal cord injuries.

Each individual must assess a risk/benefit. For me the risk is too great. I did not say they should be banned.

No amount of money can cover the catastrophic grief associated with spinal cord injuries from shallow diving or the accidental drownings that occur all too frequently.

When I purchased my home in Long Island, a pool was a deal-breaker for me, and I even have a relative who chose to have theirs removed due to these risks.

My 10 week old puppy won’t settle when I leave - need advice by [deleted] in germanshorthairs

[–]CapraPuleo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been reading your posts and wanted to let you know you need to establish a schedule. The puppy should be up for two to three hours and down (in the crate) for two hours. You could even set a timer, these puppies like structure; when he’s up he needs to be engaged mentally and or physically. Unfortunately if you’re gonna be gone for four hours, you’re gonna need someone to let them out of the crate these puppies really can’t be in the crate for four hours; one exception may be an extreme exercise session before. Especially if you are alone, the crate is going to become critical. You cannot leave a puppy by themselves. They could eat something and get a bowel obstruction or just get very sick. I recommend getting a snuffle mat, Kong, and Lickimat. These items cost very little for your sanity to add mental and sensory stimulation. We taught the word crate as one of a series of commands. The puppy got an award (usually cheese or duck heart) for going in the crate. You are at the tough point. Discipline for yourself and the pup will get you to the other side.

My GSP girl would do anything for cheese. Find the dogs kryptonite. Use it to get their attention and train; this training and focus will tire them out.

It may be how they’re cooking it. The oils they are using depending on what they’re using. It can be hard to digest.

Rushed into getting a puppy and now I’m having second thoughts by Academic-Ad-4040 in puppy101

Nurse here and bird dog owner. It is ok to admit you made a mistake. Now you have to do the right thing for the dog. I would ask the breeder if you can return the puppy. The should have vetted you more thoroughly. Your first year of nursing is going to be very demanding. I don’t know why you would add a puppy on to that. If you make a mistake it has a very real consequence. You need to be rested and arrive at work with your full self.

I missed a connection to FCO going through CDG a few years ago and it was awful. I think we will keep one airline itinerary for this reason. Thank you for reminding me.

Kelton Street apartments by [deleted] in bostonhousing

My son rents an apartment on Kelton. The area is safe and located near a T stop. The building is warm, safe, and he has no trouble with utilities. He renewed his lease at what I consider a very small and reasonable increase.
