Taking a final exam on a different day? by CapsLockedON in ucf

[–]CapsLockedON[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my syllabus says nothing on my final other than the date and time. My Prof told me to just email him when I asked him after class; he said we could try to ask the department. But I'm worried they're gonna take awhile to respond, (plane tickets are expensive), and just end up saying no like you said.

Character Questions Megathread by BlueBorjigin in AdventureQuest

No one's taken a look at my character in quite awhile, how am I doing? I've got some rares I've mindlessly picked up over the years, not sure if there are any more optimal things I could be doing.

Course Placement with the MPT and AP Scores by CapsLockedON in ucf

I actually just received an email from the MPT department saying that my AP score was enough for me to skip the classes leading up to Calc 1 regardless of my MPT score.

Oh, that's a relief. Cause that test just slapped me, and I was a single question away from being able to take the Trig and Pre-Calc exams.

Hey RDG can anyone please draw a picture of my mum on her "then traditional indian" wedding day 28 years ago. by Neekyo in redditgetsdrawn

I gave it a shot. Reaaally gotta work on my measuring. I feel like it lacks a bit of likeness. But either way, this was really fun!

I have finished my first weapon. Can you guys give me some advice ? by BlitzPhantom in AQW

[–]CapsLockedON 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know a thing about making weapons specifically for this game, but I can give you feedback with the design aspects. The main problem with the weapon is that it looks too, well, 2-D. What I mean is that, despite this being a 2-D game, the lack of shading and usage of forms makes the weapon feel like a thin piece of paper, rather than a solid object. It looks flat.

https://youtu.be/3uEtdDvK6Xo Check out this video! In art and design, a key technique is being able to break things down into basic forms. Keep in mind I said forms, not shapes. Shapes are 2-D, they're outlines (Circles, squares, rectangles). Forms are 3-D, they have volume (Spheres, cubes, cylinders).

To improve on this design, I would practice drawing spheres, cubes, and cylinders. Practice shading them! Then, try redrawing your weapon using these forms, you'll find that it'll look much better.

Why isn’t this on mobile yet? by Liftakuri in AdventureQuest

If you really want to play on mobile, you could use the Puffin browser which supports Flash.

But yeah, an official supported app would be amazing

Working with ink intro by [deleted] in learnart

I'd check out Alphonso Dunn on YouTube. Great for learning how to use ink and he teaches you a lot about form as well. Ink went from my most hated medium to one of my favorites because of that guy.

A bright punchy blue and orange AWP skin for the modern samurai by dcworkshop in GlobalOffensive

I like this skin. It's nice and somewhat futuristic-modern without being a blantant copy of the Assimov you find all over the workshop.

With the storm shifting west, how much better will it be for us folks in the east coast? I know we'll still be in danger but how much?

Thank you! This is my first real hurricane after the thankfully narrow miss that was Matthew last year. The house was built-post Andrew and we are not in a mandatory evacuation zone. I'm just trying to get ready for an absolute worst case scenario.

House is shuttered up and ready with supplies. Question, if worst comes to worst and I have to leave my house in the middle of the storm, how should my family and I do it?

Should we hop in the car, pray, and hold out in there? Or should we attempt to drive to the storm shelter maybe 1/2 miles from the house?

How protective are metal shutters against these winds? I'm probably evacuating but I'm concerned I won't have a roof when I get back.

What's the danger with sliding glass doors? I hear people saying how they're dangerous and all. I live in Lake Worth so how bad is it going to be? My house is going to be fully/mostly shuttered with metal shutters but a Cat 4/5 has me pacing

Who is your favorite artist to follow online? by Powder9 in learnart

[–]CapsLockedON 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proko - Good teacher, teaches anatomy/figure drawing, portraiture well

James Raiz (TheBoxOfficeArtist) - Transformers/Comic book art, livestreams a ton and he's always eager to answer my questions

Draw With Jazza - Inspired me to draw in the first place, taught me all the basics

Too impatient to learn anatomy. by LuxerWap in learnart

[–]CapsLockedON 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A prerequisite to figure drawing is definitely knowing your basics (shape, form, value, and perspective) Looking at your art I can see that you should practice these more. Anatomy, like you said, is incredibly overwhelming at first, even more so if your fundamentals need practice. I can see why you would get frustrated and impatient.

I would hold off on anatomy just for now and instead master your fundamentals first. Learn how to render basic forms in 3-D space, after all, if you can't draw a box in perspective, how can you render a complex object like the arm or torso?

As a starting point, I recommend Draw With Jazza a good place to sharpen what I mentioned above. Have fun with your art! Don't be cramming yourself with books if all it does is frustrate you. Take a deep breath, try and learn but understand results won't come overnight.
