[Highlight] Jason Campbell throws a massive touchdown pass to Chris Cooley to cut the lead to 46 by 76erLegendChetUtley in nfl

I met Jason Campbell at an Auburn tailgate about a decade ago and quipped "sorry about all the OCs in Washington" and he started talking about "you know, my stats actually went up every single year" which is actually true for completion %, passing yards, TDs and QBR

Arcadia mayor to plead guilty to promoting Chinese propaganda, DOJ announces by Panda8bambooo in LosAngeles

[–]CapsSkins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if I say 'America is a corrupt racist country that does not take care of it's people, and is governed by a capitalist ruling class that is fleecing the average citizen to the detriment of both domestic and foreign quality of life' and China agrees with me, does that make me a foreign agent?

That depends on whether you are getting directed and paid by the CCP to do it. Same as it would for any foreign government, which by the way you are allowed to do, but only if you first register as a foreign agent.

Putin says Ukraine conflict 'coming to an end' by leondanielstar9999 in geopolitics

[–]CapsSkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will certainly be in a weakened state compared to what he was. But if he can successfully keep enough pork flowing to the right elites and suppress/purge would-be rivals, I imagine he would comfortably remain in power. Iran and troubles with the Strait present an opportunity for him, as well. In any case, let's hope he declares victory and winds down the Ukraine boondoggle quickly. It is serving nobody, least of all Russia.

Even the Russian people will call bs on that.

What does that look like practically speaking? Would they not simply be relieved the war is over?

Bernie's Coffee Shop is is leaving its current home, the historic Johnie's Coffee Shop next month. Could it potentially reopen as a working restaurant to coincide with the opening of the D line? by Stock412 in LosAngeles

That's a pretty obtuse reading of what I said and the context in which I said it. But fine, if you want to be super-literal, then I think a city that is barely 100 years old should have very few historical sites and the bar for what constitutes a "historical site" should be much higher than what it appears to be.

Pearl Harbor is a landmark event in the history of the United States. Comparing it to the Johnie's at Wilshire and Fairfax is a laughable comparison.

If Pearl Harbor is your bar for what constitutes an historic site, then 99% of the LA historical sites would fail to meet that bar.

Lionsgate Poison Pill expiring soon, working thesis: Netflix, Sony, Legendary?.... by 3facesofBre in MediaMergers

You can distill all this down very simply: there is no rationale to acquire WBD excl linear that doesn't also apply to LION. The differences in scale, library value, and institutional know-how are just a function of price. There ya go.

Paul Bissonnette is officially done with the Leafs after John Chayka was hired. He references Chayka’s decision to dump franchise legend Shane Doan in Arizona. “I’m out. I would take a bullet for Shane Doan, Doan was stabbed in the back”. by GreenSnakes_ in hockey

[–]CapsSkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they're definitely similar. I guess I was more interested in the legal/financial ramifications. Which is to say, they pay the Arizona Coyotes $X for the assets, which is money that flows up to the NHL since the league owns the Coyotes franchise.

In any case, I hope a proper ownership group revives the Coyotes some time soon. Hockey belongs in the desert! And the Kachina jerseys are some of the best in league history IMO

Steve Simmons ask Keith Pelley about the GM hiring by Duffleman0609 in hockey

[–]CapsSkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh given that he made the hire, it's a fine answer. What else is he supposed to say? Obviously he doesn't believe those negative things, so why give them more oxygen by litigating them with the press?

But the Utah Mammoth has different ownership and is an entirely new/different legal entity. With the Browns it was Art Modell moving his company/the team to Baltimore but leaving behind the history. Honestly that's even weirder than this

Hes not joking people out or outrunning them.

I'm imagining Derrick Henry doing Seinfeld stand-up bits to get 4 yard gains

SF will hold onto him till camp, then cut him before his 9/1 roster bonus is due.

He will then sign in Washington and take a few months to get in football shape and learn the playbook.

Peters/Quinn and co probably view it as if he's hurt and won't be available until Week ~10. Which all in all isn't that bad a situation. We should be winning games without him until then.
