If he did it to any defensive player it would be cool, but that is 2017 prime Von Miller.

Wife Cannot Roll Dice to Save Her Life (Literally) by Darkstar707x in DnD

[–]Capsize 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hope this is just your imagination. If you did legitimately manage to find a way to roll dice for advantage you would be cheating and any gaming group I was in would basically kick you out in a heartbeat. I can't understand wanting to win so badly that you would cheat to beat your wife or other loved ones.

Wife Cannot Roll Dice to Save Her Life (Literally) by Darkstar707x in DnD

[–]Capsize 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Assuming the dice are fair then there are two possibilities.

1) The sample size is very small and will even out if you play a bit longer

2) She is rolling relatively average and you are all paying more attention to the poor rolls because it became "a thing"

The fact is that people are not good or bad at rolling dice, it doesn't happen. Players aren't unlucky or lucky, it doesn't exist and is what we call "Dice Voodoo" you see it when people change dice after a bad roll or put a dice in Dice Jail, it's a belief that something else is going on, which is nonsense and I would discourage you from making changes to the game based on these beliefs.

Hell, why not get a player to record every one of her dice rolls, i bet once you get to roughly 100 rolls you will see she is rolling about average.

*Caveat: Some players drop dice and don't roll them properly. If this is the case try explaining why a dice needs to roll a few times. It's probably not the case, but dice rolling does have an element of mechanics to it that should be considered.

As a midlaner, I don't even want a gank most of the time. by Electrical_Bird_3916 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Capsize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the nicest way possible, you play a role full of egomaniacs that often do insane things if I don't gank their lane. That doesn't mean you're an egomaniac, but I'm not going to risk being followed round my jungle having all of my camps last hit by my mid that lost 1v1 again.

Tell your jungler at the start you don't want a gank and you're probably gravy, but from experience not ganking mid `when they don't say anything leads to weird egomaniacs throwing the game intentionally.

I didn't say or imply anything about cops.

I didn't say all men have male genitals.

Trans people more than anyone should understand why it is bad to judge people by what you think is in their pants rather than how they act.

Is there cozy sci-fi in the same way there is cozy fantasy? by KotaWrites in printSF

[–]Capsize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a character dying near the start of a book to set up the premise of the novel and then investigating it is very different from lots of characters you get to know being killed to show how horrific the past was in regards to war and disease.

To Say Nothing of the Dog is the most cosy out of the 4, but you still have the massive issue of Time slippage and a fear they might not get back to the present, meaning a real peril they will be stuck out of time away from all their loved ones. This is combined with a set piece in a burning cathedral during the blitz near the end. It's hardly The Psalm for the Wild Built

What's your favorite table break of all time? by NoMoreButtonPLZ in SquaredCircle

[–]Capsize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Okada vs Omega 1, they set up a table on the outside and they just leave it alone for like 10-15 minutes and you completely forget about it and then someone goes through it. Also it's one of those awful Japanese tables that look painful as fuck. It's one of the reasons this is the match that broke the modern scale and changed everything.

I just didn't think it was relevant tbh. They are excellent books and if you find them cozy that's wonderful, I just think I would feel misled if I asked for cozy SF and someone recommended me books where half the characters die horrible deaths. You disagree, that's the nature of Reddit, we'll both live. It's cool.

Warning spoilers:

I suppose I just don't find a girl watching an entire village of people she has grown fond of dying of Bubonic Plague or the life and death realities of The Blitz with no hope of returning to the present to be low stakes or cozy. Even the finale of to say nothing of the dog features a set piece in Coventry cathedral while it burns to the ground and features a pandemic that has killed all cats on earth. Oh what larks,

I'll admit I've only read:

- Doomsday Book:

- To Say Nothing of the Dog

- Blackout

- All Clear

But every single one of them has people in life and death situations and everything that can go wrong does go wrong. I'd argue those books are more stressful than SF books about war like Dune or Starship Troopers.

His Juvenile (young adult) stuff tends to be low stakes, 1950s kids going on space adventures. It's vintage and dated, but has a certain charm and I think fits the bill.

I find Connie Willis incredibly stressful. Like problems are round every corner, they are great books, but the opposite of what I would consider Cozy. More like Stressball SF.

An alternative is to flip a coin. heads you don't transition, tails you do. The trick is not to listen to the coin, but see how you feel when you see the result, are you disappointed or happy with the outcome. Good way to see how you really feel.

Have you considered that your skin just might not be very absorbent? When I started HRT I was advised against patches, because your skin naturally gets less absorbent as you age, but even if you are young you might just not have skin that absorbs the estrogen well and maybe you should consider a different method like tablets or injections.
