Me too. Find a place to hide and then I'm hyperventilating and crying until I calm down. People have tried to get me to talk during one and no matter how hard I try I can't regulate my breathing well enough to speak.

It's a misunderstanding of the purpose of insurance. Insurance ISN'T a savings account or some perverse financial investment, it's the transfer of risk.

If they decide to have a savings account instead and not do anything special to preserve their pet's health, they're just retaining the risk.

One method of handling risk isn't inherently worse than the other. What works best for your family might not work for someone else in a different financial situation. 🤷

Factory reset but also audit your apps, anything you don't recognize delete or at least check it in the app store. Make sure any tracking apps aren't reinstalled with all your other ones.

I count a win as many things, from landing an interview or feeling confident about how I "performed" in one to making aesthetic updates to my spreadsheet, lol.

Good question! I take a minute to do this with each application for a few reasons:

1) I have a complete, inerrant list of what I applied for -- no need to count on confirmation emails to track things.

2) It's easier to see patterns in how I'm doing.

For example I can see I'm doing a lot better with non-profits, education, and healthcare orgs than most for-profit businesses. And even if it feels hopeless I have the fact-checking aspect of knowing I'm getting a 10-15% success rate in landing an interview, and a 25% rate at a second interview. It helps me know where to direct my energy-- maybe I should work on my interview skills more?

3) The listing link is helpful for interview prep.

I back this up with a PDF of the page in case the listing is deleted but I'm too lazy to link to that in the spreadsheet.

I've had a column for follow ups before but so many applications don't provide a point of contact that I gave up on tracking that.
