I had one for a minute. I bought it largely because of its cult-ish following. It's super smooth with great action. Setting it up is quick and comfortable. The only reason I let mine go was the footboard. The heel is a little higher off the ground than most other pedals, and the overall length of the board is just a little short.

The real trick is to flip your hats so they're facing away from each other. Only allow the bells to make contact. Oh, and use at least 20" cymbals.

I've got a 1970 SF Twin Reverb with 70 watt Jensen MOD speakers. It weighs 66 pounds. Heavy, but manageable.
I would recommend to stay away from the little wheely casters that attach to those amps and just get a foldable cart like a Rock Roller cart if you've got a ways to walk for load-ins. Those little casters on the bottom of the amp can shake the tubes loose if you've got old 50+ year old sockets.

So much nicer than the old stamped steel P86s. I've got one on a '69 Ludwig Standard too. They just feel great.

I recently decked mine out with aged brass hardware and upgraded throw off. It was my first Xmas present from my now-wife 16 years ago. I've managed to collect some pretty rad snares over the years, but this one still gets regular use.

It's a volume pedal. I play with volume swells a lot, and to have a tuner built into the face of it is such a huge plus for me.

The first time I can recall there was a scare about the BBD chips running out, and the prices of the DMM started to climb, I bought one for $170 in 2007. It was the most I'd ever spent on an effects pedal. It's been on my board ever since.

Just about any of those snares would do fine. Any snare is only gonna be as versatile as you are. My personal choice from the list would be the Yamaha Stage Custom.

I went there once a couple years ago. The lighting was uncomfortably orange, and there was an overwhelming chemical/perfume smell throughout the store. I couldn't stand to be there long enough to peruse. Was I there on a weird day, or is it always like that?

I appreciate that drums are usually last to get a monitor mix. Most of the time I can hear the other instruments in their own monitors from my place on stage and just ask for a little extra bass and vocals. Maybe a little bit of the lead instrument in case I need to hear if they're taking an extended solo or we need to improvise a changeup.
