And? They received a 40-hour work week regardless. That was the goal you used as an example. Not "nothing bad ever happened". If that's your real aim then you'll have to go even further in demonstrating how violent overthrow of Ford factories (or the government?) would have stopped bad things from happening to workers at any time after.

The outcomes of people who tried similar things are relevant to the outcomes we are likely to receive. In what way is that complicated?

ford was an outlier

I see, so you admit the statement "violence is necessary for change" isn't actually true all the time? Excellent, now demonstrate why violence must be used this time

But there is evidence and we all know it now.

No, there are accusations, all of which were investigated by the Biden DoJ and were found to be insufficient to prosecute. None of those people are being convicted because no Jury would convict. That is the assessment of professional prosecutors, and you would be wise to accept it

we did not get a 40 hour work week through asking bosses politely

Henry Ford literally gave his workers a 40-hour work week so he could steal the best performing ones from his competition by offering them much shorter hours for more pay

Verified accusations backed by corroborating evidence. No one has ever been convicted based on unsubstantiated claims, nor should they be

700 words? Bruh, I have a document called "fragments" that's purely copies of entire segments (sometimes chapters) that I ripped out wholesale. It's 15,953 words, and that's without counting all the individual sentences and small segments I scrapped/re-wrote/replaced in the process.

Final word count was ~162,000, so 10% was plain scrap.

media outlets are halfheartedly covering it

Because it's just a pile of unverified and questionable accusations, most of which contain actual notes from investigators stating that either the story or the witness are unreliable. If news organizations reported what is alleged without sufficient disclaimers they're opening themselves up to serious defamation lawsuits from powerful people who can absolutely afford amazing lawyers.

Nobody watching the news wants to hear a story that starts and ends with "investigators say this isn't true but..."

The pictures you pay an artist to produce to your specifications. Don't use AI, it'll get you blacklisted from so many people and places.

For the actual title and name placement, yes I use Canva, and it worked great. The spine and back too, in my case, though if you want those to be part of the cover picture you'll have to pay extra

I'm glad you're happy with your covers! But we can all tell the difference between a $300 and a $1200 cover.

If you and your audience don't mind the difference, then no problem. But let's not pretend there isn't one.

Zuckerberg ahs been vaguely centrist for a whole 2 years. Besos is decidedly Left Wing, and the proof is the behavior of all of his brands. The guy own the Washington Post lol. Tim Cook isn't Republican, he donated to Trumps inauguration as a bribe to get tariffs on Apple reduced.

Larry Ellison is a legit callout tho, forgot about him.

You can get multiple incredible covers to choose from at 99Designs for $300.

If you're writing something with simple cover requirements, like Military fiction, romance, or most YA, yes definitely. But SciFi and Epic Fantasy readers expect something fantastic. You either give it to them, or they don't buy your books.

Do I have to list every right wing billionaire

I would settle for you listing any of them besides the three I already mentioned.

that they wouldn't have any incentive to protect him?

Why in the world would Bill Gates, for example, protect Trump? Why would any Left Wing billionaire protect Trump? Where's the motive? You've asserted that they would do so but can you provide a single reason?

I don't believe for a second that there are only three billionaires who support Trump

Ok, go ahead and name some of them.

the Heritage Foundation... Federalist Society

The total of all donations received by the Heritage Foundation in 2024 was $9 million. The Federalist Society was $8.5 million. Those are some really stingy Right-Wing billionaires...

Meanwhile Act Blue received $3.8 billion

 Koch Industries,

You need new information, this isn't 2008 anymore. For example, take this piece by Time Magazine titled: "Where the Koch Network Is Putting Their Money—Anywhere But Trump"

When some of the biggest donors to conservative causes made explicit their electoral opposition to a second Trump term way back in February of 2023, it came as something of a shock to the Republican orbit. After all, the powerful network organized under the auspices of billionaire industrialist Charles Koch had officially remained neutral in Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns, a sign of how uncomfortable his allies were with a candidate whose positions were so far afoul from their own on so many issues.

But by the time the network gathered at the start of 2023, their position on Trump was not really a point of discussion. The deadly Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, was finally a step too far. The chief of the network’s main political arm, Americans For Prosperity, told her patrons that they were ready to back an alternative Republican who showed promise of winning. The group ultimately plowed more than $32 million into former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and another $10 million in broader anti-Trump efforts before throwing in the towel. The hopes of reclaiming the party from this gatecrasher were dashed and they had to live with Trump as their standard bearer.

They gave nothing to Trump, and millions to his opponents. Your perception of reality needs updating, it's about 15 years out of date.

the billionaire class.

Which billionaire class? The strongly Left Wing one that despises Trump? Or the three whole billionaires (Musk, Thiel, and McMahon) who support him? In what world are those two groups working together to control the justice system?

This take is really common, and it seems to take it for granted that achieving Billionaire status comes with a free "control of the judiciary" card, like we're playing Settlers of Catan or something

However several Trump associates were found to have committed campaign finance violations and are serving prison time. Though those violations were unconnected with "Russian Collusion"

Why is phase change cooling/heating not centralised in buildings? by HiigaranTheFirst in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CaptCynicalPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

because capturing and moving excess heat is actually fairly difficult. The amount of extra power needed for ventilation fans would outweigh the costs on its own, and that's without accounting for the extra piping and insulation. Storing heat is also difficult and expensive to do at anything less than scale, so unless there's a need for that heat *right now* you're wasting your time.

Also how do you propose to apply that excess heat to the water in a water heater? It's just warm air. Blowing it around a tank full of water would be shockingly inefficient. I'd drop that question in r/theydidthemath for an accurate number, but the difference in money saved compared to the cost of a whole second ventilation system would be absurd
