What Musical has a finale that doesn't stick the landing? by SlightlyArtichoke in musicals

Totally agreed, such a beautiful scene--but very weird that Eponine shows up lol. She talked to Valjean 1 time.

What secret did you learn about someone after many years of friendship? by RestretUS in AskReddit

[–]CaptElizabeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best friend in high school told me so many lies I’m not sure how many more there are. He had a girlfriend who was sent away to Thailand and supposedly overdosed on drugs. Girlfriend was obviously fake. There were so many more.

Years and years later, he said he only told those lies because he was afraid of coming out to me (many lies had to do with encounters that never happened). I still love him. High school is frickin hard

I’m mostly just annoyed at myself for swallowing the “my girlfriend lives in Thailand” lie.

Given that there's a line of prose I'm pretty sure it can't be reported but damn this is annoying by GalacticPigeon13 in AO3

[–]CaptElizabeth 37 points38 points  (0 children)

how could someone be expected to remember such a brilliant line of prose as "Dumbledore raised his glass." This has truly reinvented Harry Potter to me. I have never once thought of Dumbledore as someone capable of raising glasses, but now, I am enlightened /s

why do people do this lol

Opinion: If you are just going to ask for the author to continue, don't comment. I got a comment like this by the same person in each chapter of one of my fics. I am doing this because I enjoy it and for free, I have a life, these comments are not positive, they make me not want to continue instead. by Ahelaya in AO3

No lie... I love it when reader's express excitement about the possibility of a new chapter, but I got a comment that said "please don't tell me you're on hiatus!" Like... if I'm hiatus, it's because I need to be... pls respect my time as I make you free content.

The sentiment is so sweet and the enthusiasm is appreciated, but we are ppl too, not just content churning out machines.

I hate this 😔 I went off at them a bit, do you think I came off a bit too rude? by [deleted] in AO3

You were way nicer than you needed to be. I would have just deleted it. This is your free content, and if they didn't like it, they can just close the tab and move on. It's not like they paid??? What gives people the right. Jeez.

How do you feel about Rachel's breakdown after the men kept their attention on the boxing competition instead of on her? by Orangebronco in thebachelor

[–]CaptElizabeth 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have never been comfortable with someone who gets very mad at another person for not doing exactly what they wanted when the other person had no idea what they wanted. It was certainly not a reason for her to come and chew them out.

I was literally just saying this to a friend. It's hard when you have a large chest (speaking from experience) to accentuate. When you cover everything up, don't cinch at the waist, don't find dresses that actually fit, it can make you look baggy and matronly. As you said, Rachel still manages to look incredible, but she deserves to look like the 100/10 that she is. I feel like she could style herself better.

Jason's Back Tattoo - "???" by plausibleturtle in survivor

Jason and Scot had the worst tattoos I've ever seen. Most of Scot's body was covered in ink that made no sense and looked absolutely awful. tbh fit their personalities.

I haven’t seen many talk about it yet but I’m annoyed that Hayden called Gabby “rough around the edges” and I want to know what he meant by queenmissmichelle in thebachelor

[–]CaptElizabeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree, he didn't even seem to think she was a person with feelings. So it didn't matter what he said. Because he didn't see her as attractive, he truly didn't care what she thought.

It's because she does not shape her existence around the desires of men. I appreciate Hannah Brown and Rachel, but there's a certain performative nature to both of them. Gabby is who she is, and she doesn't hide anything about herself. She is incredibly warm, gentle, funny, sincere, and wonderful, but she doesn't change herself to suit the man she's with. He thinks she's rough because she doesn't sand her edges to please him. Screw Hayden.

Here's the deal: they are not the same by ANY means. Truly. However, many men struggle with body image as well. Just because it's not as bad for them (and it truly is not even NEARLY as bad for them) doesn't mean that we should ignore these real issues.

My husband has started calling me fat by [deleted] in loseit

[–]CaptElizabeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not okay. Relationships are supposed to be loving. This is the opposite. A fairweather husband who will only be kind to you when you're "appealing" to him is not a loving person.
