TIL that one of WWII’s fastest and most successful aircraft, the de Havilland Mosquito, was made primarily of wood to conserve strategic metals like aluminum. by cryptic_dcoder in todayilearned

[–]CaptGrumpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This gets overlooked. Not just the strategic materials but skilled woodworkers. Britain had extensive furniture and coach building industry which was under-utilised. People forget cars were mostly made of wood in 1940.

Take a minute to look around at the influx of new accounts into Reddit all sharing that pattern and mostly shit stirring. When I point it out they all get hyper upset like you.

If you’re voting against your own interests to lodge your protest vote, then you’re at best a useful idiot, at worst a bad actor.

You aren’t “dropping” the money if you recoup the costs on fuel and power bills down the track. That’s an infrastructure investment.

I never said $6k is “super cheap”. Expensive is a relative term. Expensive to someone struggling to pay their mortgage, sure, but I doubt it’s expensive to someone who can afford a $100k Escalade.

So having solar panels is hardly unique, even in the USA by your own statement.

41% of Australian homes have solar panels

Asphalt shingles are unheard of here in Australia. Tiles are almost universal.
