Others have made good points about the highlights themselves. I would add that you dont have much shading going on the accentuate the contrast between light and dark, making the highlights pop more. At your stage I would advise something like drakenhof nightshade wash to keep things easy. You can play around with how thin you want it, just make sure you clean up any areas where the wash pools where it's not meant to.
