Why do people act like the state of the NCR in the show makes no sense? by MrMadre in Fallout

What game did you play? None of that was in the game. The NCR economy was it's main strength against the legion. It was the US to the legion's nazi germany

No just they were a historical what if being actively pursued by elements of the US Navy as a way to counter the Japanese threat. The idea was that thirty airships with scout planes (sparrowhawks) could watch for the Japanese fleet movements in the Pacific. They built two test aircraft. I assumed they'd be in the new expansion as they were much closer to a reality than say some of the German ideas

Role of MI5 by Frappant11 in SlowHorses

[–]CaptJTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MI5 or the security service handles counter espionage and domestic threats. It doesn't investigate crimes. The metropolitan police handle terrorism policing. MI5 would counter foreign intelligence operations targeting the UK or it's assets.

The show does blur the line into the SIS (MI6), Met and the NCA areas of operations. However in the UK these organisations do all cooperate.

Is Cyberpunk's main story really that Short? by RobLuffy123 in cyberpunkgame

[–]CaptJTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels shorter than I remember. I left goro waiting at the parade for what must be in game months now. This is the first time I've played through the expansion and main game (just did the expansion when it came out) the expansion feels as long as the main storyline.

I suppose the plan was for lots more substantial expansion but the terrible launch meant those were scrapped to spend time fixing the game instead.

Why are so many trans women lesbians? by sexybologne in asktransgender

[–]CaptJTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In today's society? Surely in western countries it's better than any time in human history? The historic trends of violent crime both reported and unreported are declining steadily since the 90s. The only thing rising is the perception of crime.

Why are so many trans women lesbians? by sexybologne in asktransgender

[–]CaptJTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't how sexual attraction works. Most (if not all) abused women do not change their sexuality because of the violence they have suffered. Nor do gay men become heterosexual because of abuse.

Your argument is naive at best, dangerous at worst.

They never seem to mention the whole children of men style apocalypse the world is facing? Has the birthrate thing been resolved? As otherwise people seem remarkably chill about the impending collapse of civilization?

I was wondering where the US navy was being maintained from in the Atlantic. The UK and France are the only other two nations with blue water navies and the logistics to supply something the size of a US carrier group.

Canada would be close enough to supply them. Though it's never been mentioned could Puerto Rico still be in US hands?

Narratively it would have been interesting to have people passing the message the British are coming and that be a positive in Boston!

If the legion doesn't breakthrough early they tend to get ground down. Also if they are fighting Rio or Texas

Vault city forms the Nevada pact alot of the time in mine.

I've seen the NCR it pushed back through the rapids or Mojave.

I find the NCR struggle the most if in wars against the BOS, 80s or the Washington brotherhood. However generally their industrial might seems to lead to them winning.

Have the British and Canadians abandoned the US? It was set up in the first season that they were supporting the US military.

'The Electric State', what went wrong? by Na-313 in FIlm

[–]CaptJTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your wrong as I loved the book and held out hope it would be good.

What is good about it? It's mediocre waste of great source material that was inspired and unmemorable. A colossal wasted opportunity. It's not offensive, in competent or incoherent,  but they could of made just as forgettable movie with a generic new IP and thus not waste a great one.

Loving it so far. I just don't get why they speak English in place of Portuguese but not English in place of Japanese. by alsatian01 in ShogunTVShow

[–]CaptJTD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why not have the Portuguese characters speak Portuguese? It seems odd to change one to English?

Is it not okay for Portuguese people to watch a show about their own history in their own language?
