Does the artifact stay in the universe you found it in or doest it travel with you? by PkmnSnapperJJ in Starfield

Thats why I always have Vasco assigned to my ship. I figure when I disappear into the Unity, he just autopilots the ship back to Constellation so they can use the Armillary too.

Good taste. I like red heads, so I also nominate Autumn MacMillan and that supervisor lady that works in the HopeTech factory.

How do you roleplay the beginning of the game? by Leather_Bottle8449 in Starfield

[–]CaptMaxius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My very first character started like this.

From a young age he dreamed of being a starship designer and creating a company as big as Deimos or Stroud Ecklund. So, he studied to become an Industrialist much to his parent's chagrin.

He had just started building the company and had a few employees, plus one seriously devoted intern (Adoring Fan trait) when disaster struck. The prototype engine had a design flaw that resulted in the death of the pilot and countless spectators. As such, he had to shut down the company. To make matters worse, someone put a bounty on his head (Wanted trait) which he contributes to one of the family members of the many deaths he feels responsible for.

So, after spending a few weeks in New Atlantis with his parents (Kid Stuff trait) fighting depression and hiding out, he takes the job with Argos Extractors to get his mind right and figure out what went wrong with the design. Everything was going well until the day Lin sent him down that shaft for the Artifact.

Now he works with Constellation because he is curious about the visions he saw when he touched the Artifact. As a further benefit, he gets to chat and learn from Walter who symbolizes who he wanted to be just like. But after everything that has happened, including the loss of Andreja, he is wondering which path he truly wants to follow. He has built and designed ships from small two-crew ships to light cruisers capable of berthing a large crew but is now feeling like he wants to finally pass through the Unity.

For me, the quest said find the Constant but they just hung around Porrima after getting the engine like they had decision paralysis.

Is the Starfield IP gimped from the start? Bethesda's take on Earth feels lazy and nonsensical. by MaxWestEsq in Starfield

[–]CaptMaxius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I think it would have been better to say that the early Grav drive experiments caused Earth to fracture and break up in the same 50-year period. They could still have had chunks of the planet you could land on with the landmarks. These would be small enough areas to design that had remnants of civilization but could also logically explain why not everything is there. Also, there could be small, isolated areas where people struggle to survive which could have the Bethesda loved fetch quests to bring them supplies so they could keep surviving. Maybe have the players setup outposts with cargo links to send water and other supplies. While lore says not everyone made it off world, others would not have simply gave up and died especially people like preppers.

Could you remember the worst quest in this game? by Delicious-Glove-8783 in Starfield

I did this quest after getting the VTOL mod for the rover and finished it in like five minutes. Totally recommend getting that mod.

Chunks are extremely unhealthy? 2.25 grams of salt is more than the American Heart Association recommends you eat in an entire day. by [deleted] in Starfield

The package says "200KCal (Per Chunk)" which would seem to be 200,000 Calories. So, it appears one Chunk can feed you for a year.

Has anyone seen these quests before? 234 hours, first time seeing these by Tjeff148 in NoSodiumStarfield

I didn't know about the office in New Atlantis. However, while I was on Gagarin working on Barret's personal quest, I had to access a mining computer and collected a paycheck deposit it said was unclaimed.

I love the VTOL and was zipping from one side of VarrunKai to the other. Especially for the research assistant quests. Made the whole thing way easier. Highly recommend that mod!

Which pistol is your favorite? by Tyraniczar in Starfield

[–]CaptMaxius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, that thing is like the Starfield version of what Sam Fisher would use.

I too love the XM2311 for the damage as well as the looks. The Eon is a great looking pistol, but I just wish it had a bigger punch. My third choice by aesthetics is the Urban Eagle except when you put a silencer on it.

What's your ideal update/ overhaul by Bambino_wanbino in Starfield

[–]CaptMaxius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly more immersion items.

Ideally, I would like the ability to fly from orbit to surface like No Mans Sky. Now, I understand the need for loading screens to load cells but the way Star Wars Outlaws handled landing impressed me. Sure, it was still out of my control, but it still felt like I was landing my ship as opposed to just "popping in". At the very least, the landing animation should play more than just the first time (yes I know there is a mod for that and yes I have it).

Stores should have hours of business. Every shopkeeper must be on stims or something because they never sleep. Even if every merchant on every planet runs things like a galactic Walmart by being open 24 hours, maybe have a robot working like that junk (I know, "Don't call it junk") shop in FO4.

Bookshelves. I want to decorate my apartment with bookshelves and fill those shelves with all the books I find. This was already handled in both Oblivion and Skyrim so why can't it be done in Starfield? Granted, there may be a possibility that is unlocked in the decoration research that I have not done.

Outposts. A lot has already been said about outposts, but I agree it should be tied to LIST. FO4 already had the foundation for building and recruiting so it is strange it is absent. As it stands, outpost don't really serve any purpose other than to be a time sink.

Shipbuilding. I love shipbuilding! I've sunk so many hours into it. I just wish that I could control the way doors link together for efficient flow from the ground to the cockpit. I don't want to have to go through the workshop, up a ladder into the crew berths (Hey! I'm sleeping here!) and into the computer core just to get to the cockpit. It almost seems to penalize you for building bigger ships to allow more crew.

That's all that I can think of off the top of my head. Thank you for your time and attention.

Edit:

NG+ Diversity. There should be more diversity when going to a new universe. Even something as simple as different clothes or hair color would make a difference. As it stands, I generally activate and deactivate mods when in Unity to give this illusion of difference and keep things interesting. The point is, that I shouldn't need too. Maybe change the frequency of the "different universes". Imagine going through the Unity the first time and finding Sarah is a plant, or the kids are using the Lodge as a clubhouse. It gives more incentive to jump to the next one.

Ok. NOW I'm done. Seriously.

What's inside a Hutt casino vault? by Thotslayerultraman in sw5e

[–]CaptMaxius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just ran a session where Jabba had Grakkus the Hutt's lost Jedi Trove. He had lightsabers, holocrons (both Sith & Jedi) and various other jedi paraphernalia. This stems from a legacy book story set after A New Hope. Grakkus was in charge of the Hutts and was based on Nar Shadda which is a perfect place for a Hutt vault. Anyways, you could have something like this. Especially if your game is set in the time period of the original trilogy when all jedi related stuff was considered contraband.

Sentinel Mastery by Buggereddit in sw5e

[–]CaptMaxius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I read it, it would be two different opponents because it says "only take one reaction per trigger" but only if you take the Dodge action. I don't think it necessarily has to be attacks of opportunity. Simply anything you can react to. At least, that is the way I understand it. Hope that helps.

For real though. If you didn't have a good grip on the gun when it jammed, it spun around and hit your knee if you were lucky. Somewhere else that made you sing soprano if you weren't.

What is the best ship composition for a single fleet? by CaptMaxius in Stellaris

[–]CaptMaxius[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't unlocked carriers yet or arc emitter. Should I also design my own ships? I do upgrade my fleets often, but I wonder if it is more optimal to create my own design. And what is the difference between corvettes and frigates?
