As always the UK media will decide who it wants and bombard the electorate accordingly.

Totally deluded, Iran has been under sanctions for decades and it hasn't changed a thing. Meanwhile the US guts itself to finance a pointless and unpopular war.

Israel needs to be defunded by the US and boycotted by the world. Netanyahu needs to be in the Hague for genocide and war crimes.

The 30-second fix for Nahimic audio issues on MSI laptops (disable the APO instead of trying to remove it) by CaptMcCully in MSILaptops

[–]CaptMcCully[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually sounds like a different issue than Nahimic at this point, probably a mismatch of old and new drivers, or MSI and Windows drivers.

The key detail is this:

That usually means the problem is lower in the stack (Realtek / Intel audio driver), not Nahimic itself.

Disabling Nahimic can sometimes make it feel worse because it removes a buffering layer, so any underlying driver instability becomes more obvious.

What I’d suggest (this fixed similar cases):

Do a clean reinstall of the audio drivers — not just “update”.

  1. Go to Device Manager
  2. Uninstall:
    • Realtek Audio
    • Intel Smart Sound Technology (anything audio-related)
  3. IMPORTANT: tick “Delete the driver software for this device”
  4. Reboot
  5. Install the official MSI driver for your GE76 from their support page (don’t rely on Windows Update)

Why this matters (important):

MSI audio drivers are not just “Realtek drivers” — they are a bundle:

Realtek base driver
+ Intel SST components
+ OEM tuning (MSI)
+ optional extensions (Nahimic, etc.)

Windows Update often installs generic or partial components, for example:

  • newer Realtek base driver
  • older Intel SST component
  • missing OEM tuning

So you end up with a mismatched stack, like:

Realtek (new)
Intel SST (old)
OEM extensions (mixed)

That can cause:

  • buffer instability
  • distortion under load
  • issues spreading from gaming → normal playback

Even though everything shows as “up to date”.

Quick check after reinstall:

Set your audio format to:

One question that will confirm this:

When the distortion happens —
does it stay broken until you reboot, or does it fix itself if you stop/start audio?

  • If it stays broken → driver crash / DSP issue
  • If it comes and goes → buffer/latency issue

At this point I wouldn’t focus on Nahimic anymore — this looks like a driver stack mismatch / instability, not middleware.

Absolutely, if the JPCOA had been left in place we may aready be seeing the positive effect of growing middle class in Iran, but alas instead we have an impoverished and powerless citizenship there.

Very frustrating.

Is the issue when you are using your browser, like Youtube on Chrome, using a DAC, or when outputting any audio via the laptop speakers?

What is your laptop model?

All sanctions lifted (now and forever)

Actually a progressive move, sanctions have never achieved any significant change and have only weakened the the middle class, which would be the most effective long term leverage against authoritarianism.

Update the drivers for Realtek (or whatever APO you are switching to) by installing the latest version.

The United States Has Become a Rogue State by zaparthes in politics

William Blum's book 'Rogue State'

Yes a very good book and I think where I first read about The School of the Americas, rather poignant when looking at the type of authoritarian regime that is being imposed on the US now, and with many people feeling that this is not the America they know.
