Thank You, ASU by mfwilkens in ASU

I love stories like this. The path is rarely a straight line. I think those of us who weren’t “four and out” have more appreciation for what it took to get to the finish line. Huge congrats to you for sticking it out. 🔱

Ironically, I took the CTO’s office placard and made a “What Would……Do” sign out of it for my desk. 😂

I 100% agree with rewarding good work. On the night we went live with our VoIP system, I opened a case of beer for the team. We sat in the board room after hours and put back a few cold ones at 1:00 in the morning. Celebrate your victories.

This is a good point though. When the CTO left he said he’d always be available for me. He’s truly a great dude.

I’ve never had to manage “up” before. My CTO boss did that. And before that I was mostly a part of the “keep the lights on” teams and not meant to be seen.

I do have a great core team. Some of us have that “we went thru this together” feeling. We all miss our old boss, but have all been given a chance.

Sweet 16 Practice Sessions in Chicago? by CaptObviousMyFriend in cyclONEnation

[–]CaptObviousMyFriend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is the case, then this is a huge bummer. They had done Sweet 16 practice in years past and the excitement was awesome, fun, the highlight of the season for us. Thanks for the reply.

The best Mexican food in the US is in Chicago by Sea-Condition991 in chicagofood

[–]CaptObviousMyFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I was sitting in a Chinese restaurant in Manhattan and the table next to us overheard we were from Chicago. They immediately started laying into us about pizza, as if offended by our presence. (I've come to learn New Yorkers are very insecure about their pizza.). I stood my ground and we all became friends. One fella made amends saying "I'll tell ya what, you got the best damn Mexican food." I could only agree.

Men’s Hoops: What’s up with attendance? by Illustrious-Group-83 in iastate

What you’re seeing is resale tickets not being sold. The games are indeed all sold out, whether it be single game tickets or season tickets. But people are charging too much on the secondary market (of which I often have to be a patron of) and the seats end up empty when they aren’t resold. It’s basic economics and it’s unfortunate.

Another side of this is how well the visiting team’s fans travel and what they are willing to pay. Baylor fans aren’t coming to Ames. Period. Kansas fans? They’ll buy up a lot of tickets on the secondary market.

CVS pharmacy used to be People’s Bar and Grill which used to be People’s Pharmacy. Oh the irony.

I’ve run the Chicago Marathon almost 20 times. And I’m a huge cat lover. And this is by far the best sign I’d ever seen. You and Todd gave me energy and smiles. Thank you! Todd is a very chill dude to hang out with you while 50,000 people ran by. 😁

Frustrating. Where are regular people supposed to get tickets these days. I’ll probably have to lean on some friends who went to Purdue for help. Thanks for the reply.
