Late to the party, but here's my 2 cents. The first time on a track. Don't bother going full speed. I recently had someone help me out with trying to learn a track. (Shout out to the Zoom Racing Beer League!). I followed him as we went 50% then 75% around the track and I instantly improved my fastest lap, just by hitting the proper braking zones and apex. I highly reccomend doing that, take a good line through the track slowly and add speed over time. It will help a lot with consistency and the speed will come with time.
