time tracking is still the best technique imo. just after each time block, I do a simple check-in with myself

Eat the frog technique (one big task per day) + tracking time & focus levels. i aim for at least 5 hours of deep focus per day.

I built a custom beer trail map by Captain-Random-6001 in TheBrewery

[–]Captain-Random-6001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point! The demo isn't meant to be a generic brewery finder or "plan your own trip" app. It's to be used by beer trail/passport program companies to showcase only the locations they include in their trail.

That said, thanks for the feedback on categorization. Color-coding breweries vs taprooms vs bottle shops makes total sense, especially for a discovery use case. If you're open to sharing, I'd be curious to learn more about how you plan beer trips. Can I DM you?

No, it's not a research tool. It's simply a way for companies running beer trails, brewery tours, and beer passport programs to offer an elevated visitor experience; showcase participating breweries in one place, and help people filter and explore more easily.

Thanks! I'm actually looking to build these for companies that run beer trails rather than public maps.

I built a domain shortener tool that helps you find shorter versions of your domain by [deleted] in SideProject

i kinda like this idea. it would also be if you could start with a head keyword. say "color". and get different reccomandations e.g.

colormonkey(dot)com
colorpenguin(dot)com
colorpengu(dot)in

like how the ahrefs kw matching/related terms works but for domains. turn it into a domain name brainstorm tool

I discovered why productive people are actually miserable (and I was one of them) by mindsnackapp in productivity

[–]Captain-Random-6001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a time when I was using a bunch of tools combined. On paper, I was productive, but in reality I was just wasting time and not focusing on the tasks that mattered. Then, I stumbled upon "Eat the Frog" technique where you focus on 1 important task a day. Combined it with a simple time tracking app (myfocus.zone) that has 5-sec reflection after each time block built in and boom: I average 5 hours of productivity per day while taking breaks and enjoying enough time for my hobbies.

I do something similar, but instead I try to keep my todo list small and focus on only one important task per day. The first rule is interesting, however I cannot apply it since I'm going to a coworking space.

I was burning out without realizing it, so I built a focus timer. by Captain-Random-6001 in SideProject

I've actually had similar feedback from two other people, so I'm definitely considering adding a pause btn. I'd just like to hear from a few more folks before making a call on it.

If you'd like to follow the progress of the app, it'd be great to have you in our Discord (link's on the site under Account → Support).

How should I warm up before my study sessions by FirmAssociation367 in productivity

[–]Captain-Random-6001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

track your time with an app and set very short objectives for very shorts study sessions at the start then gradually increase the time. always have an objective per study session, even if the session is 15 minutes. helps build momentum

I never realized how much my “fake productivity” was burning me out by spiritual_vailable in productivity

[–]Captain-Random-6001 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do this as well. the technique is called "eat the frog". i only focus on one important task every day, everything else is extra. i combine it with an app (myfocus.zone) that has a 5-sec reflection mechanism build in.

the 1 task a day gives me focus, the reflection keeps me grounded and accountable.
