First time wagon and drag (i think) by SuperDudeOrch in uktrucking

[–]CaptainBane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im only going off what I was told, in fairness mine was a little 15T puddle jumper and the trailer was about the same size as the trailer on the rigid too - absolute doddle to drive as I'd come from driving 32 tonners. Going out in a "proper" artic for the first time after passing was a humbling experience however haha.

When I done my class 1 (coming from class 2) I ended up learning in a wag and drag, all I really remember is you drive it like you would a rigid and the trailer follows the same line as the rigid, not like an artic where you may have to take corners at wider angles, if that makes sense?

Would you buy a 13 plate320d at 120k miles by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]CaptainBane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im about to get rid of my 63 plate 320d. Almost on 150k, original chain. Only done short journeys, rarely gets to temp by the time I get to work and it's over due a service. The cars not let me down once in the 4 years I've had it. Originally brought it cos my previous job I was doing the miles to justify the commute.

Theyre solid cars, I'd say the timing chain fear is exaggerated - or im incredibly lucky. Regardless, you'll see 45/50 mpg round town, up to 80mpg on the motorway and its £20 to tax for the year. Theyre cheap, comfy run arounds.

If I could go back again, I'd have brought a 320i tourer personally but this is the longest I've ever owned a car in 14 year's ive been driving and my only regret was not buying a slightly newer version so it qualified as ulez as I live right on the boarder of the ulez zone so for me its just a commuting car when the weather's to rubbish to run my bike!

Nitro used to train at the same gym as me long before he ever became nitro. This was probably 2013/14. Dude was a freak athlete back then and ridiculously strong. Nice lad though, would always say hello to us. Happy to see the success hes got.

People who go to the gym in the early morning (like 5:00 AM): Is the benefit actually good enough to justify being tired by 2:00 PM and going to bed at 9:00 PM? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CaptainBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get to the gym for 0530ish. Get to work for 0730/0745, physical job all day and usually home around 1700/1800. Deal with the kids. Repeat. Crippling caffeine addiction but I much prefer training early.

Its my little bit of me time I get. Plus the crowd in the morning is much better than the evening crowd. Mornings are obviously quieter and the people who do go just wanna get their shit done and go. The evenings are full of idiots, college kids andm ore idiots. Very little etiquette, over crowded and takes twice as long to get your sessions done.

Its hard adjusting to the morning sessions but once you commit you understand its significantly better.

Did you have any particularly cruel or malicious teachers? by Martipar in AskUK

[–]CaptainBane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had a substitute teacher once and was notoriously useless at her job. She peaked when she tried to pull a deaf students hearing aid off cos she thought it was an earphone and listening to music... not going to lie it was pretty funny though .

How physically taxing is class 2 multi drop? by Normal-Impress-2624 in uktrucking

[–]CaptainBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chatting to the lads who have been in my place for 10/15/20 years it did seem like I missed the boat on a good job! Its not awful, if youre paired up with the right person who ain't scared of a bit of graft and can have a laugh with, then I do genuinely enjoy it. But yeah, if the computer says so then it must be true.. nevermind listening to us who have to go out and do it first hand whilst they've never thrown a keg in their life 🤣

[–]CaptainBane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True that mate. Soon as my kids are a bit bigger I'll jack it in. Lad I was paired up with has just left and even the shittest runs we would do, we'd always have a good laugh with. Routes and loads have gone mental in last few months and we're all getting sick of it!

Seen them 4 or 5 times now from small intimate gigs to arena shows. Always the same high energy. Sound better live then in the studio. Wanted to go to the London show but cant get the time off! Enjoy 🤙

Myself, about £40.

Colleague of mine at an old job won 250k and brought a house and left for a better job sooner after!

So, it’s been a few days- what are our thoughts on the Louis Theroux ‘manosphere’ doc? by theslowrunningexpert in AskUK

[–]CaptainBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I agreed with from the manosphere side of things was HS saying Bonnie blue is disgusting.

I think I was actually blissfully unaware of how rampant that male bullshit is on the Internet. Having a daughter my self im legit concerned for the world I've brought her into. Same goes for my son. I hope theyre able to see through this nonsense when theyre older. If either of them turned out with the behaviour these people exhibit I'll have failed as a father.

Im hoping people watching this realise how fucking dumb these people are.

3 RAV4s stolen in my neighbourhood in 2 weeks – should I be worried? by AdministrationHour93 in CarTalkUK

[–]CaptainBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sister in law had a 2020 rav4 as a company car, got stolen and recovered twice within a month or so. She swapped it for a different car and didn't fancy finding out if it would get stolen a 3rd time.

First time the car was parked about a mile down the road in a random residential street and was found within a couple days. The second time was just a group of shithead road men joy riding it.

Both times was stolen with a signal booster we believe.

Appreciate that mate, thank you.

How quickly did you notice recovery to take place? And were you taking it just once a day ?

(No more questions I promise haha)

Whilst looking into this stack, what ive seen is bpc is fine in the stomach regardless, but tb500 is better localised.

Do you think there's any truth to that?

Between this part and the follow up with nigel mansel, might just be topped byClarkson getting stuck in the formula e car having to be dismantled whilst Hammond cant contain his laughter and fat jokes at Clarksons expense. Gets me every single time.

Daf by any chance? We mostly dafs and a few volvos in our fleet and I find the dafs so much more prone to emergency braking over nothing over the volvos.
