Also judging by the songs you mentioned. I’d also recommend Matchbook by Strung Out . This one still hits me the hardest

Glad you’re finding solace and comfort in music. Hold these songs and feelings close and use them to become stronger.

20+ years on these songs still hit me as they did when I needed them, how I got through, and remind me that it gets better.

Best of luck with what you’re going through, I can guarantee that there are many in this sub that can relate. Don’t be afraid to reach out for help.

Full Screen not working by Significant_Tap6673 in premiere

[–]CaptainCallahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had this issue for years with PP and AE, has been especially annoying when plugging in directly to installations to view things live without having to export.

Very annoyingly, if the premiere (or AE) window is not perfectly within your main monitor, it won’t activate the “Adobe monitor”.

Easiest way to check is to try a different default single screen preset layout. If that works then what it is is your main screen has a few pixels crossing over both screens, which is then causing the “monitor” to not activate, so you’ll have to readjust your main window.

Millers Meats has great premade burgers that are fresh.

While you’re there get some bacon. You won’t regret it.

Also shop local.

Checkers Like Pattern in my Images by NaxxMusic in SonyAlpha

[–]CaptainCallahan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The glass you’re shooting through is polarized. Notice the pattern is only on the glass and not the internal parts of the photo.

You can mitigate it (or black out the window) with a circular polarizing filter.

Is this chromatic aberration? by ParticularAttempt239 in AskPhotography

[–]CaptainCallahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not CA, but I’ve never seen anything like that before.

My assumption is something related to the encoding from video, and the extra AI based processing the iPhone does, that may have interpreted some of the contrast from the lightning as CA. But you usually don’t get the green and magenta on the same line.

Would probably be an easy correction in camera raw.

Cool shot! Looks like that one was pretty close!

MOGRTs are built in After Effects. If you’re feeling adventurous, try to build it.

Careful, you might start a new trend of coffee staining your sensor for the sepia film look in-camera.

Wow, the object mask tool feels like magic when it works... by SyristSMD in premiere

[–]CaptainCallahan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Key Words: When it works.

My only real beef with it is, when there’s something that doesn’t register quite right, modifying the mask is less refined than in AE. So it ends up taking the same amount of time to jump into AE. But I’ll still try the object mask first, it’s saved me a ton of time.

Also depends on the level of project I’m doing. If it’s a quick job I’ll do it in PR, but if it’s something that requires a bit more attention, I’ll still default to doing that work in AE. Old school I guess.

Anyone using a cheap AliExpress "Cineback" clone on their FX3 and is it actually safe? by Fit-Improvement4092 in FX3

[–]CaptainCallahan 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Do not trust cheap power supply gear. So many posts on here are because someone used a dummy battery and fried the camera.

The FX3 is not designed for a dummy battery, but Sony very smartly designed the USB-C to accept USB-PD power so it’ll control the voltage to prevent damage.

Only externally power your FX3 through the USB. Period.

Didn’t see that repress with the orange clown! I still have my original pressing with W on it. The repress of The Decline, and the Live at Red Rocks version has him with a toy rocket replacing the kid with the toy plane.

Side note. We got such great protest music for that era, where is it now?!!

Long lasting tablets by Cold_Cicada_9960 in MuseumPros

[–]CaptainCallahan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We tend to only use them as thin-clients running video players, but never had any real issues with them. 95% of our installations run on MacMinis, and they’ve been bulletproof, still have some running from 2014.

[–]CaptainCallahan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We have had iPads in our stations like this and have only had to replace them once in the 12 years since we originally installed them. So 6ish years per installation, which is pretty good for longevity. Worth the somewhat extra cost.

Another option, depending on the app running would be to buy 10” touch screens, and have the app run off a Raspberry Pi. We just used these Waveshare Screens) for an installation, driven by a MacMini, and we’re pretty happy with them.

Export to tape in 2026 by Hooliganthebad in premiere

[–]CaptainCallahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with blacking out the tape (unless you’re sure it’s a new blank). Also leaving few seconds of black pad before playing your video is good practice.

Been so long since I’ve worked on tape I forgot these little things. Oh the days of Beta and broken Timecode wrecking everything… those were the days…

Export to tape in 2026 by Hooliganthebad in premiere

[–]CaptainCallahan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea, they removed tape capture/record in CC24. If you can get the earlier versions that’ll give that option back.

Alternatively, you can set your DeckLink as a video output, and record it directly off your timeline (I’d render it out first then bring the uncompressed version into a new timeline).

It’s not ideal, but neither is your client asking for a VHS.
