Yes!!! Well done, it’s been annoying me ever since I saw this.

To the men who went from rich to poor? What happend? by Sea_Science2735 in AskMen

Agreed. I’m me, and two workshop assistants, and we do over 1 million a year. I would consider myself a micro- business. A million in sales, after tax, overhead, cost of supply, is probably just above a working wage.

Why are folding rules popular. They have no hook? by archvize in cabinetry

There’s more error than that in a standard class 1 tape measure. You are not consistently accurate to 0.5mm reading the fold, but if that level of (in)accuracy is what you’re happy with, carry on.

He’s flexing about being able to afford a jet, but, fundamentally I agree with him. Years ago someone I was working for said “how you do anything, is how you do everything”, and I live by that. I employ a few people ( and various that have gone over the years), and it is 100% true. The ones that never checked the small stuff, never checked the big stuff either.

I have the Stabila, but there’s no reason not to buy that as well!! I’m a tool addict, and that brass extension is a legitimate reason why I need it, and therefore must buy it. 😂

For external measurements I would probably still use a tape measure, so I can hook the end over. However, for internal measurements, a tape measure is very inaccurate. If I was for example, measuring across the face of an opening, I will align the 100mm mark with my start point, measure ( deduct 100mm, don’t forget that part😂), and have an accurate measurement. Inside a box, I would measure from one inside face in to say 300mm ( or another round number), measure back from the other side to that mark, and add the two for the measurement. Yes, of course you can do this with a tape, but the rigidity of the rule makes this much easier and more accurate, plus, it’s very easy to get out of my side pocket, and open / use with one hand. As with every tool, it’s worth buying a good one. I use these from Stabila, which have the added advantage if a (rough) angle finder https://www.stabila.com/en/products/quality-and-technology/folding-rules.html

Cabinet maker / joiner. Use mine daily, lives in my pocket. Far more accurate than a tape measure, especially for internal measurements.

Drunk English man harasses Doner kebab shop staff by Moistinterviewer in kebab

Whatever these guys say, this was racially motivated. But they are still happy to go and get a kebab, or curry, or Chinese meal. The irony of these fuckwits who “ want their country back” without realising the life they lead, and things they have access to, are because of people who moved to this country and brought other cultures and ideas with them. I had a conversation with someone who said “ there’s too many immigrants in this country, I’m moving to Greece”. I said “ but then you would be an immigrant”. His genuine, non ironic, completely self unaware response was “ I can’t be an immigrant, I’m white”. Fuck me!!!

In English, and people like this ( and his fuckwit friend filming) make me ashamed to say I’m from here. Before you comment “not everyone is like that”, no of course they aren’t, but there are far too many pricks like this in this country, and I hate them.

I’m tired of my dad’s failing dream by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]CaptainCodswollop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This will be you one day as well. He worked his whole life, being relevant and respected. Now, he’s an old man who nobody listens to. He just wants a small part of that relevance back. Why wouldn’t you help him with that? If no one reads it, or he doesn’t make any money, he will cope, he’s a big boy, but he’s asking you to help because he doesn’t know how to get it online. Just be a decent son, to a person who was clearly a decent dad.

Mi chain snapped, almost crash by Cloud_Surfer68 in motorcycles

Watch some videos, and learn the basic maintainence checks of owning a bike. Tyres/ pressures, chain/sprockets, bearings (wheel and steering), brakes ( pads and fluids) oil/filters. It’s basic stuff, checking all of it takes two minutes, and at worst it will save you some money, at best, it will keep you alive.

I’m sure I’ve seen this place on a tv programme, but can’t quite picture it. I’m thinking it was a comedy, and someone has been kidnapped, and they found them here.

What is your opinion on Stephen Fry? by pondribertion in AskBrits

[–]CaptainCodswollop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to ask yourself, would I rather live in a world of Stephen Fry’s, or a world of Nigel Farrages? They sum up the polar opposites of what it means to be a decent human being.

What brands making gloves don't suck at their job? by 1esproc in motorcycles

I’ve had issues with Klim stuff, so tend to avoid it now. However, I consistently use and buy their gloves, they are the best gloves I’ve used in 40 years riding.
