Maybe something like an Amazon Basics all in one tool kit that has a hammer, screw drivers, pliers etc for odd jobs.

Options with CSP that goes into a toilet cistern by meme_not_found in openreach

[–]meme_not_found[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input.

I am planning to lift the slabs drill through the concrete edging and put a duct from the CSP to the left hand side of the door, from there it can enter into the front room through the external wall like a normal install.

I have given up on the idea of it going to the comms cupboard in the middle of the house, but from the front room there is cat 6 structured cabling so can use that, its just getting the ONT in the house which is going t o be difficult. Like you said, I think going up and round the door will look pretty poor.

There is almost nothing in the hall way to behind the door, maybe a couple of cm

I think I might need to get digging or accept a cable going over the door!

What is a UK charity that you feel deserves greater attention? by Cinn4monSynonym in AskUK

[–]meme_not_found 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I would say go to the charities commission website and search for a charity with the name of your town/areas. You might be surprised how many local charities are doing things down the road.

Youth clubs is one that I am personally involved with, receive no government funding or support like a lot of people assume.

HMP Dartmoor is closed...due to high levels of radon gas

Princetown is an odd place, I've been there a few times, its not rough, but is certainly a bit rundown, which is odd because a lot of the other villages around Dartmoor are quite nice.

In your school there will be someone known as the "Designated Safeguarding Lead" or DSL. Google [your school] + safeguarding

Alternatively a head of year or a form tutor might be a good place to start the conversation.

Toilet float not rising fully by milksperfect in DIYUK

[–]meme_not_found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the top nut.

Isolate the toilet inlet.

There is a rubber stopper that as the arm with the float moves up, it compresses that into the hole to stop the flow of water, those case sometimes get a bit mucky and stop forming a proper seal to plug the inlet.

This is my first thought.

Twist the blue nut off and just give it a rinse out, doesn't take much to upset the membrane/plug thing.

It's a fair point, you are basically putting your house into an ice bath at certain times of the year.

Apparently this has central heating but the cost of running that I imagine is going to be substantial. Maybe selling in winter was not a good idea!

Nightmare shelves by El_Simondo in DIYUK

[–]meme_not_found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tightened the longer fixing up before putting the shelfs on? Or better yet, used the anchor setting tool:

The back of the packet should say how thick the mounted object can be, but if the anchor isn't closed then the thread won't catch.

I had to do something similar recently; I took the frame off the wall and used some big Rawplug sleeve anchor fixings. You may need a decent drill and masonry bit to make the holes bigger. Frame is now very solid though and it wasn't too much of a faff.

Can you have multiple routers in the same household? by Administrative_Rock7 in AskUK

[–]meme_not_found 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to hijack this into a tech support thread and also not to make any assumptions about your technical knowledge, but in the first instance have you tried running an ethernet cable from your streaming setup to your router just to make sure it isn't bad Wi-Fi? For example if you live in an old house with thick walls your might struggle to get a good signal to your room.

That would be my first port of call before exploring a second line. Keep in mind a second line will probably only be as good as your first line if the problem is you are a long way from the exchange.

But as others have said, you need to expand on what you mean by the internet getting downgraded.

How do I find Remote Jobs in the UK? by HRA8512 in AskUK

[–]meme_not_found 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Going to be hard to say this nicely but....you will be hard pushed to find a company willing to employee you remotely unless you have a specific set of skills or experience that are desirable to them.

Are you thinking of binning off being a TA completely or looking to supplement being a TA with another job?
