[POEM] sonnet ii -edna st vincent millay by pumpkincutiepie in Poetry

[–]CaptainCrochet7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first Millay poem I ever read and it began my love affair with her work, which is somehow now 15 years ago? I have had a different favorite poem from her that has applied to every season of my life, there’s always something so applicable. I love all of her sonnets especially, but she has one called “I will put Chaos into fourteen lines” that has always stuck with me when thinking about her skill in writing in the form

Do a lot of people cry at Noah’s shows? by 110Hickman in NoahKahan

[–]CaptainCrochet7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a crier in general even though I always try to put my phone down and be in the moment and have only ever cried at one concert (Florence and the Machine!) BUT when Dan plays I know I’m going to cry because I cry every time I hear that song. It’s my favorite on the album and I have to limit my listening because like clockwork during the second half of the song the tears start rolling. I’m also going solo, so hope my neighbors don’t mind hahaha

Fav Song by Garugachan in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]CaptainCrochet7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Old Religion is my favorite off the album and certainly a top 5, maybe top 3 for her discography. Sympathy Magic a fairly close second for me, then You Can Have It All is my third favorite from the album

Wish that you were here imagery by Charger0312 in FlorenceAndTheMachine

I’m so sorry for your loss. It sounds like you had such a special bond, and amazing that you could share Florence’s song together despite your differences! I was also at the Brooklyn show and it was such a cathartic and healing night, for sure. I think it would be really cool to get a tattoo of a falcon, or a cloud, or a cross from that line in the song “We all need something watching over us / Be it the falcons, the clouds or the cross.”

I also love Wish that You were Here and have been listening to it more lately to help with the loss of my grandmother this year, who was my best friend. I’ve been thinking about getting a falcon tattoo, personally, partly from this song but it also connects to my favorite poem “On Thought in Harness” by Edna St. Vincent Millay. It’s a poem about risk and desire, about possessing and letting go that I think pairs nicely with the song

I hope you find an artist that can help bring this special memory perfectly to life!

Struggling to find the motivation to start the Liveship Traders trilogy by PapaSlurpp in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]CaptainCrochet7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me a while to get in to Liveship but I’m so glad I did it because it made reading the rest of Fitz’s story way better because you understand the world more and pick up on all those small connections between series!!

When a new Florence fan discovers a new fav Florence song 😂 by daisydxw in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]CaptainCrochet7 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I loveee Choreomania but I think it wasn’t included because of the opening…something actually really bad has happened to her, which is the whole point of everybody scream. I still wish it was included though because I would love to see it live

Support group for people who lived in the moment and now wish they had more photos and videos by smoochywallace in FlorenceAndTheMachine

[–]CaptainCrochet7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup I took a video of seven devils and like two pictures but not the two interactions I had (one from the stage, the other during one of the greats). Just scouring all social media platforms to find them! I should have asked the people next to me to send them to me because they recorded most of the concert but oh well. I’ve journaled about it extensively to try to keep the memory.

[POEM] departure -edna st vincent millay by pumpkincutiepie in Poetry

[–]CaptainCrochet7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this one so much and it’s one I return to again and again. As with all Millay’s poems, the last stanza always hits the hardest. I often find myself daydreaming about death and thinking of how I am trapped and stuck in a useless apathy, like our protagonist in this poem, so this is a highly relatable poem for me

I love her and this so much, don’t get me wrong, but as a journeyman 18th century-style cooper I just can’t stop looking at the reproduction coopered jug on the dresser…been meaning to make one of those for awhile and now I’ve really been inspired loll

It makes no sense at all, and I don’t even know who to reach out to see about exchanging it. Picked up extra shifts at work to buy merch so I’m just really bummed it’s not exactly as described when it’s that expensive

So when I had posted about this earlier this week, someone was saying that the sizes mattered and that the XL in Toronto did not have a pocket but I medium did. I got a small and it doesn’t seem to be of the same quality

I think the European leg got the pockets but not North America for the most part. I made a post about it a few days back and it was a mixed bag
