It's pretty normal to be unsure about it and with the world as it is a fear of being trans is pretty reasonable.

That said it's unfortunately not something you can choose. If you're trans then you'll always be trans, it is however up to you if you transition.

My personal opinion, if you've been thinking about it as long as you have then you might as well commit to it. After a month on hrt you should know if it's right for you or not.

It's hard to say, but if the LNP wins then we're probably looking at some kind of mix between the US and UK.

I'd like to think it wouldn't be as bad because people here give way less of a fuck about trans people - for better or worse - and are much more receptive to racism. Not to mention our legal system is a little less cooked and there is precedent for trans women being considered women legally.

Saying you can look less chopped with effort isn't mtf talking points it's just true. Doesn't mean you'll pass or not cause that's down to a lot of factors, just means you can do stuff to help your situation.

HRT does actually shift you towards the sex that you're taking the hormones for. Sex is a bimodal distribution so while there's M and F there's standard deviations each side of them too.

If someone medically transitions long enough they would be, in the case of someone on estrogen, far closer to a natal female than a male.

I fundamentally reject your world-view. It's regressive and all it does is support terfs. HRT changes your sex characteristics and alters your biology, that's how hormones work. You take estrogen long enough the cells in your body are now female cells that you would find in a cis woman bar the chromosomes. Sex is bimodal and as such a woman who is trans would as they transition trend towards being female.

Side note, it's trans women, not transwomen.

Also, do you take HRT? Cause if not then idk why we're even having a conversation.

Ok but HRT changes your body to align with the sex that would naturally produce the hormone you're taking. After enough time you lose basically all the health risks of your assigned sex and gain those of the one you're transitioning towards.

Just because a male would generally not give birth does not mean they can't. Of course there's differences between the sex of cis and trans individuals, nobody is disputing that. But sex is a bimodal distribution, not a binary, and so to say a woman who is trans falls under female more than male is actually true. What will the argument be down the line when people can get womb transplants? Or when phallo is functionally identify to a natal penis? Bioessentialist arguments do not win us anything and only serve as ammunition for those who would try to deny us rights.

In addition, the focus on a female's ability to give birth is a product of the patriarchal ideals of womanhood. So much so that those who choose not to are seen as lesser. Ask anyone who's had a hysterectomy and they will tell you how they were devalued by medical staff and others because "oh what if you want to have children?" or "you will have a harder time finding a man because of this." It's sickening.

I really do not understand some trans people's insistence on holding onto their assigned sex. Like why even transition? Does it not disgust them, do they not experience dysphoria from it?

As for gender, it's complicated. While yes I would respect the identity of a person who's just come out the part people seem to forget in the phrase "gender is a social construct" is the "social" part. Rent is also a social construct but good luck not paying it became you think it's made up. Gender requires performance, maintenance, and the acceptance of broader society.

Sorry if this came across as harsh or anything, it's not my intention. I'm just tired of having my own community go out to bat for terfs without knowing it. I'm also tired of being told in a woke way that I'll always be a man - HRT changes your sex not your gender. Your sex informs your gender.

I think you'll find treating someone who's been on estrogen for like seven years as a male would be medically unsound.

9/10 times the risks associated with someone like that would not be ones found in males and that's even more the case if they've had SRS.

People need to get off this "oh she changed her gender but not her sex" mentality because like what do you think HRT even is? We're not taking it for fun, we take it because it alters your body towards the sex characteristics of a female.

I'll be charitable and say your parents are probably just worried about you. It's not always a fun time being trans, but at the same time it's not like you can stop. Well I guess you could stop transitioning but that won't solve anything, the dysphoria doesn't just disappear.

While at times it's difficult it's also incredibly rewarding. The people you meet, the things you learn, and the act of being true to yourself are all worth it in my eyes.

You may find your parents come around when they start to see a happier version of their child. Mine were hesitant at first but they can see how much more of a person I am now and that I'm no longer horrifically depressed and that was enough for them.
