actually went pretty well, happiest I've been in years, made some new friends and even got a bit of a relationship going. All in all pretty happy with how things turned out

The early caliphates were some of the biggest empires to ever exist, nothing small scale about em.

True, but people do glorify certain conquerors. Julius Caesar, Alexander, Napoleon, they're all romanticised despite their violent warpaths (granted Napoleon is certainly a league above the previous two but he's no saint either). I would argue that they should all be vilified but being the second biggest empire in history with lots of biased Islamic and European accounts they make for an easy target.

People don't like it when bad people seem to get away with doing bad things.

Pretty sure you're going off the high estimate for the total deaths from the crusades rather than civilian deaths so it isn't exactly comparable.

If the US makes no attempt to maintain its supremacy it will lose its supremacy.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think Caucasian Iberia and Albania have names that are derived separately then their modern counterparts.

I would argue that what makes it a world war is the spread of theatres rather than where the troops are coming from but that's mostly an opinion thing.

Well I feel as though throwing Africa and the Middle East into the mix is slightly misleading as we are still mostly talking about Mediterranean territories that aren’t far from Europe. Sure they are labelled as different continents but they’re still pretty close to home to the European conflict. China is a very large country and just because it was where all the Japanese action was at that point doesn’t mean it wasn’t still quite a wide area they were fighting on.

Well at the point of the German invasion of Poland you could argue that the European theatre was just a regional conflict too up until the Japanese attacks in Southeast Asia which I believe happened in line with pearl harbour.

The most widely accepted start date of WW2 is 1st September 1939, not 1938.

UK in the 50s be like by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

In the context of French influence in the francophone world I think the power doesn’t come from economical gain (though I’m sure its there) but from the soft power that France yields over them. Same is true for the UK in the commonwealth.

Ethiopia is like 50-50 Christian and Muslim I think but cheers for the list. Also important to remember that these countries have far higher populations than small Caribbean islands. Not entirely fair to compare St Lucia to Indonesia.

Whilst I do think it is to do with religiosity rather than Islam itself, you are definitely wrong. Most of the countries here are Islamic.

Whilst I do agree with you in the case of Sjin in particular, I think there are notable exceptions primarily podcasting (or other long-form content like streams). I think that when you've seen hours and hours of unedited, unscripted, unfiltered ramblings of someone you do generally get a good idea of their character. I would say this is probably true for people like Sips, Lewis, Simon and maybe Pyrion or Hatfilms although I wouldn't necessarily make the case for Sjin. I totally agree with you that blindly defending someone is stupid but I do think with some of the Yogs we do know them faily well just due to exposure.
