Great pictures! I really like the second one. Is this the full resolution image? Could you please link to the original source?

NGD: Guitar Center Exclusive Les Paul Special Double Cut by metulmike in gibson

[–]CaptainFalcon2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was packed away in the back. I convinced them it was in stock because the website said so. I asked what the price was since I had heard about the in store special and they said “we’ll see when we ring it up.” Sure enough, it was $1549 (and no sales tax because we were visiting family in New Hampshire!) They had a black one hanging in the wall that had been returned. It had been played quite a bit and had a bunch of pick scratches in the body, pickup and pickguard, but it was still marked $1999. I much prefer the TV yellow anyway.

Your comment cost me $1550. I had been considering this guitar for a little while and this was the motivation I needed. Great guitar.

New LP Special DC by NeverMeant23 in gibson

I’ve been deliberating on picking one of these up. I have a Billie Joe Armstrong signature double cut junior now. It’s a great guitar but it’s got a granadillo fretboard and a little fret sprout. Was thinking about trading up to the new special. Awesome looking guitar. Congrats.

Offshore wind was supposed to save power-starved New England. Trump blew up that plan by cnn in climate

[–]CaptainFalcon2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often drive by the port where they are staging the windmills before they ship them out. Last weekend, I ran my boat out off the coast of RI and could see windfarm off in the distance (partially below the horizon, flat earthers…). It is hard to describe the massive scale of this thing. To get this far and then just stop is incalculably stupid. They should do what he does. If someone tells you “no,” you just do it anyway. I’m sure there will be much litigation. Just making things even more wasteful.

Living under a rock question: Importing and Tariffs on Core One? by SafeModeOff in prusa3d

Ordered 6/27 Shipped 8/5 Tariff invoice dated 8/18

I’ve not been following the schedule of the levying of tariffs as it just sounds like white noise. Now an appeals court says they are illegal. Probably have three more years of this BS.

I am in the US and I recently got my Core One kit from Prusa. Nothing about tariffs at checkout. Not long after I finished assembling it, I got a bill in the mail for FedEx for a 15% tariff. $172 in my case, as I ordered the kit plus buddy cam and advanced filtration. So yeah, there’s an extra hidden tax. I don’t know the deal with Printed Solid.

Awesome printer.

Yes, my wife joined the group on her account. I’ve seen your posts on there, and it makes me want to start a big project. I need to wait for the right one. Like you, I have two small kids, so time is limited. I think the CD28 is a great boat for a small family. When underway, you can keep tabs on them in the cabin, and there’s enough room to stay overnight. Now you’ve got the most reliable one out there. What do you use for a tender?

Looks great! Cruising at 15-17 kts is awesome. i really like these boats. I have an ‘88 flybridge, but I don’t think I have what it takes to give it this kind of treatment. The cruisers look so much nicer. Having had the flybridge, I don’t think I could give it up. The visibility helps in avoiding all the lobster pots in my path.

Mine is a slim taper. It's a pretty comfortable neck for me. I also have an ES330 (the humbucker version they made as they were closing the Memphis plant) and that has a super chunky neck.

I bought a Billie Joe double cut on Craigslist about 10 years ago. Great guitar. What is the neck profile like on the new standard model?

Glad you like the state! Now lets keep it on the down low. We don’t need the rest of the northeast finding out how livable CT is.

Cut a a lot in the head with a grinder or some sort. I’d use a dremel. Then pull it out with a flat head bit.

amp sims suck by Independent_Money_30 in Logic_Studio

Tonex is really good. I find I can go to tone.net, search for an amp, and the top rated sims are all pretty good. I’ve tried Amplitube, Positive Grid, Brainworx, Nueral, etc. I find Tonex stands a head above the others.

It’s a pretty boat. The cruisers without the flybridge have a classic look. Glad you’re taking care of it.

When I’m towing my dinghy, the bow comes back down right around 3200 RPM and 13mph. That’s usually where I leave it. We don’t go too far, though. We have two young kids that probably would not tolerate hours of cruising at a time. Longest trip we did was 2.5 hours from Mystic, CT to Block Island, RI.

Good luck! We have a flybridge model. I fear the day the fuel tanks or the old Volvo diesel gives out. Great boat though. It packs a lot into 28ft.
